Today I recorded an interview in an office building near the outside of the building. I was using my favorite Marantz PMD660, which has been very good to me in the past. Took the mp3 file to Audition. Only then did I notice the backgound hum. Edited the file anyway and exported; uploaded to server. Hum is really annoying. Don't know Audition well enough to know if I can 86 the hum, or at least reduce it. Any takers on this one?

- open the sound file
- find a dead spot where all you have is background noise
- highlight that area, right click, select "Capture Noise Reduction Profile"
- highlight the entire wav form, or at least deselct the "dead spot"
- Under "Effects" on the top menu, go to "Noise Reduction", click "OK"
- Viola!

Its very easy to do noise reduction, as you found out.
