Read a press release today, about godaddy offering hosting to podcaster. Looks pretty promising for beginners.

I am interested to hear what you all think about this.

Got a link?

If it's anything like the blog builder, they'll have some work to do.

Thanks for the link. In the press release, there was a "service" listed that really isn't.
Key features of Quick Podcast include: * Support for AAC audio -- the standard used by iPods and Apple's iTunes Music Store. * Ample and reliable storage and bandwidth to ensure audience access to the program. * Ability to promote the podcast using a personalized domain name. * Simple, hosted Web page with templates and themes to showcase the podcast. * Onsite player for MP3 files, located on the podcast Web site for audio program listening. * Media management resources for organizing multimedia files. * Automatic notification to popular podcast directories, including iTunes and iPodder.org, after users register with these services. * Statistic reporting to track the popularity of the podcast. * Customer support available 24/7/365 for those who need assistance.(emphasis mine)
The thing is, if you register at iTunes and iPodder, they will update you automatically, usually within a day or so. Godaddy may be offering a way to ping to iTunes and iPodder, but iTunes at least already gives you that tool. So to me, that "feature" just looks like a way to "pad the resume," if you will.

Otherwise, it looks like an ok service. There are other companies that offer better deals. I also know that if Easy Podcaster is like Easy Blogger, it will not be "easy."

I just signed up for the service since I want to get back into podcasting and was curious as to what they were offering. So far, it's a very simple interface but there are some neat things, like on-the-fly IDE creation for the MP3s that you create. That may not seem like much, but for a lot of noobs out there, it's certainly a benefit. If you ain't computer savvy but have something to say and do not want to get bogged down with installing your own scripts, it's not a bad option. I'm not a Godaddy shill by any means, but they do offer competent e-mail support and I think this latest service will be a winner.

But yeah, I have to echo your comments as regards their Quick Blog thing. Interestingly enough, if you purchase a domain through Godaddy, you get some pretty cool freehosting with mysql and stuff.... So if you wanted a blog, you could just register the domain and install wordpress yourself. YEah, the free-hosting comes with a banner but that's not really a big deal.

Well, in fact, Godaddy has always been a reliable and affordable web hosting. It is in the top ranking of best web hostings on the net.
