I am having a few issues at the moment with my website/blog and would appreciate any help from those more knowledgable in these things than me.

I recently purchased the domain name from godaddy.com. The site I have ownership of is www.podcastrev.com .

Rather than redesign my who site from its current blogsport format I though I would initially just host my blogspot site on www.podcastrev.com .

I have tried to go through all the procedures with the ftp and other deatils but it keeps coming up as an error.

Now my who blog is screwed and referrs to some advertisement.

If I can't resolve this I might just set up a blog through go daddy. I do prefer the wordpress format but after downloading the software I don't really know where to start.

Any help or adice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Tim

I don't know how you set up your redirect, but there are a couple of links to that 1088 ad page in it.

Why not point podcastrev.com to the blogspot address in the meantime?

Tim I think Spartacus is right - You're better off re-directing people who go to the domain to your blogspot page. Your domain host company should have instructions for how to do that when you log it (well mine does - 12 pages long and full of tech gobbledy-gook but they have them none-the-less). If you do it this way you can still use your domain address as your main address - when people click on it will take them automatically to the blogspot account. When you want to change later on you can simply re-route the re-direct.

On the whole the ftp setup thing is awkward. I'm having similar issues trying to sort mine out. Particularly difficult given that I'm currently trying to access the net via dial-up powered by a tired brontosaurus a la the Flinstones.

Good luck

Why not do it right.

Sign up for a hosting account with someone reliable. Don't go to cheap - you get what you pay for imho. I'm sure many have suggestions here... -it's been years since I've hosted public - so I don't know who is good.

After you have a hosting account, install WordPress and you're good to go.

I know there are some blogger to wordpress tools out there to transfer your contents and WP 2.0 is said to do the transfer a lot better than the previous WP versions, but still some have mixed reviews. Some are successful, while others are not. Anyway take a look at the below link. It might help you get from your blogger to wordpress.

or maybe you could try

V.Brown - is right.

From the WordPress admin side...

Blogger - Import posts and comments from a Blogger account
Dotclear - Import posts from a Dotclear Blog
LiveJournal - Import posts from LiveJournal
Movable Type - Import posts and comments from your Movable Type blog
RSS - Import posts from an RSS feed
Textpattern - Import posts from a Textpattern Blog

Works great as well if I may say so...
Cheers,
Scott

P.S. I have to also say I appreciate the WordPress built in 'Backup Database' feature added from 2.0+
