Advertising Contracts

Hi,

I am about to sign-up my first advertiser for my podcast which for me is a HUGE achievement, esp for a podcast coming from South Africa.

I found the advertising agreement that the Podcast Brothers have on their site and decided to use that as a template for my advertising agreement that my advertiser is going to sign with me. I studied it with a fine tooth comb and found it favorable for both parties.

I would like to know what you do with regards to agreements with advertisers and sponsors. Do you also make them sign a contract or is it just a word of mouth situation? What contract do you use? What is your opinion on the Podcast Brothers advertising agreement?

Share your experiences with regards to signing up of advertisers.

I used the podcast brother agreement once, unfortunately the deal did not go through, but it wasn't because of the contract. As a matter of fact the contract made my show look professional, and since I took the time to read it carefully, by the time I sat down with the advertiser I knew what I was talking about so I didn't come across as a dope.

I strongly suggest that you do not go with a verbal agreement. Get everything down on paper. Things may seem rosy and nice at the moment, but you need to remember that people will be down loading those shows with your sponsor on it month later. You don't know what you're relationship with that company may be at that time, or if they still feel the same way about you and your podcast.

For example, what's to stop them from coming 3 months later and say "you need to remove that episode because we no longer want ot be associated with your company"?

The deal was signed and sealed on Saturday using the contract that I downloaded from the Podcast Brothers. :)

Made me look very professional which is what I aim to achieve. Campaign starts in September.
