I asked the same question on the Apple forums, but no replies yet. Maybe someone here can help me.

I like to listen to internet audio, but unfortunately not everyone offers their audio as a podcast. As a result I have a folder full of manually downloaded files. As I really like the podcast functionality in iTunes (especially the auto-delete after listening to an episode) I'd like to organize this folder as a podcast. Using EasyPodcast I created an xml file, but when I try to subscribe through iTunes it automatically adds the http:// and thus can't open the file.

Is there any way around that or is there another way of accomplishing what I want to do?

Just add the folder to itunes if it's on your local disk?

That's what I'm doing right now, but I have to remember which files I already listened to and then delete them manually from both my hard drive and the iTunes library. With podcasts iTunes does that automatically. Not a big problem, but maybe there is a better solution out there.

you could just make it into a real podcast.....

buy a $5 libsyn account, or any free podcasting providers (like switchpod) and put the you want on your ipod on the account with an FTP......

just use the blog function of the provider you'r using to link to the files and produce an rss feed. one post per link.

it's the long way around, but hell, it'll then be a real live, for good podcast. if you don't advertise the feed to anyone, you won't have to worry about copyright issues since you're using it only for your own personal uses.

Change the genre tag to "podcast." See if that works!
