Long time lurker, first time poster. I have received a grant from the Arts Council of Wales for the third series of my podcast. Part of the grant is to cover equipment that will help me take the podcast on the road, record interviews, and do some sound seeing stuff at various museums in Wales. I've got about £ 90 ($160 US) left to spend on the last items on my grant list, and need some advice.

Ideally I'd like to be as unencumbered by equipment as possible. I have an AKG C1000S that I use as my studio mic. It can run off a 9 volt battery if there's no phantom power source, although I've never actually done this, as I've been recording in the studio since I began.

I also have a mini disk recorder that bought when a friend who works for the BBC said that this is what all the reporters use for field work. I figured if it was good enough for the beeb... I'd like to run two mics for interviews. I've been with my friend while she was doing the single mic interview, and it's not ideal. I *think* there's a way to run two mics off a mini disk recorder, but I'm not quite sure how it's done, or what I need in the way of additional equipment (beyond a second mic, obviously) in order to accomplish this. I do seem to recall that doing this will mean recording in mono.

Given the equipment that I already have, and my remaining budget, what do I need to buy in order to have the best sound quality possible, in an easy to use, easy to carry, portable two mic set-up? Another AKG? Or is there something else that will work just as well, given that I have to record in mono anyway?

Remember, I live in Wales, so telling me about a great gadget that can be had for pennies at Radio Shack probably isn't going to help, unless I can get it for pence in the UK too!

Thanks!

Brenda
