Just my opinion, but I'd recommend considering going to Podcastercon at the beginning of next year. If your point is to make money with your podcast then it may be worthwhile to spend the cash on some of the PME sessions. However, if learning about podcasting is your emphasis, then Podcastercon may be a better route to take, if you can only afford one.

Cheers -

If you look at the tracks, there's a lot for "non professional" podcasters to do in terms of sessions. And the speakers at this thing are top, top notch, which means you'll learn a lot. $250 is a great value, compared to similar conferences outside the podcasting space!

So, I'd certainly recommend going the full conference way

(disclosure: I'm a speaker at the PME, but am not paid by the show's organizers)

I had read that the first Expo was tantamount to a Nerd Reunion. Let's hope the writer was exaggerating, just to jazz-up his copy…

Another option if you live on the east coast is the popular culture convention DragonCon. This year there is a podcasting track with 3 days full of panels hosted by various podcasting celebs like Derek and Swoopy and I belive Nate and Di are going to be there. I'll be there as well.

The turn out last year was pretty good, and this year should be stellar.

My partner Marc and I will be eagerly attending the Expo as well as hosting our own audience "Meet N' Greet" the Wednesday before the expo in West Hollywood.

Stay tuned on our show for details.

Should be! This year the ticket sales are already around 40,000 people. And almost all the downtown hotels are booked up!

For a small tease of the podcasters that WILL be at Dragon*Con this year:

Derek and Swoopy
Nate and Di
Mike and Evo
Podcast Pickle
Greg Demetrick (5 Questions Podcast)
J.C. Hutchins (7th Son Podiobook)
Phil Plait
Mike Stackpole (TSFPN)
Mur Lafferty
Tee Morris
Les Howard
Steve Eley
Sam Chupp
Tracy and Laura Hickman
Paul Fischer
Patrick McLean
Summer Brooks
Paul Fischer
Shiela Unwin
Scott Sigler
Ben Phillips
Martha Holloway
Kevin Pratt
Steven Euin Cobb
The Signal (whole crew)
Tom Strickland
The people of MuggleCast
And Others!! :)

So, there is a tease of how the Dragon*Con events are shaping up! Also, we are going to have about 4 different LIVE events that will be put up on the feeds of the hosts that perform them! So, the people that come can go on the mic and be a part of those shows! Should be a great time for a podcasting lovers.

We will have different panels and sessions on podcasting, from tutorials on basic and advanced information, as well as information on how to get sponsors and get guests for your shows! Also, information from popular podiobook authors and what they do and the tricks about how to translate your story into a set of podcasts for your fans and others!

Come one, come everyone! We are still getting from more and more other podcasters that are coming! This might become the 'east coast' version of the PME! :)

Love,

Derek Colanduno

Agreed. I think the Tim Bourquin did a very good job in creating a very balanced show.

(disclosure x2: Same as kevdo. I'm speaking and am not paid).

Cheers,
