I've got a meeting next week with a major PR agency that is talking to its clients about podcasting. The agency feels clients should be doing it, even though the agency itself isn't sure about how it all works!
They say their clients are a little ho-hum about it. Anyone got any tips on what's persuaded corporates to experiment with new media?

It is a hard thing. I've had similar meetings and it's a constant up hill battle but the key is to show what people are doing. Show success stories. Find someone doing it in the same space they are and let them listen. That's when they start getting it.
Yes it's a plug, but I talk a lot about this sort of thing on my new podcast at http://www.managingthegray.com if you're curious. The latest episode gives some more tips in this area.
What it boils down to is that you've got to show them something they can relate to. Just talking in concepts never works. Heck, just record a sample podcast for a client so that they give the possibilities. It goes a LONG way.

Tell them they can begin by using it as a way to "re-purpose" existing content that they may have initially developed for other media. If they have success, or a favorable response, then they can develop further content.
I get a commision on this now, right? :)

Yup, commissions all round. And, C.C., I've subscribed to the podcast for tips.
I'm sure you're right about the sample podcast and once I find a "live" client, one I think I can reel in, I'll do just that. I think hearing is definitely going to be believing for these guys based on what I've found so far working the phones.

A perfect example of a company experimenting with "re-purposed" content would be Subzero-Wolf (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=82790604). They even got a big write up in the paper here a few weeks back (the story was full of inaccuracies, but publicity is still good).

I've been giving this a bit of thought recently...what kinds of businesses would find some benefit in podcasting.
Even as a podcast enthusiast, I have a hard time figuring this one out.
I love podcasting from an entertainment point of view, but I'm not inclined to listen to one from a business.
I'll subscribe to that podcast, but if anyone has any links or stories for 'business' podcasting, I'm all ears.

Well, there's always Heather and Jonelle (http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=14505)! Oh wait! You probably wanted good examples! ;)

I had an excellent conversation today with a marketing person in one of the major accounting firms. She is "intrigued" by having her guys launch a corporate podcast but she wanted to know how firms that have tried it in the UK and the US have gone.
Deloittes, for instance, has a podcast; as does Ernst & Young.
I know this is a long shot but does anyone have any sources for metrics on how well corporates like those - or IBM, Disney and the others - have done - subscribers, downloads, etc.
All help gratefully received!
