Okay so I'm about ready to take the plunge ... I plan on mostly voice with some music for my show... I have Mixmesiter which I use for mixing my fitness class music, and it will let me add tracks, overlays, etc

Now the big question ... right now it's just me so should I go with a USB mic ( Samson C01U or Q1U) or should I be going with a mixer (Behringer UB1002) and a mic?

If the later is there anything special I need to pump the output into my Dell 5160 laptop?

The answer depends more on your future plans. Adding a second voice? Going outside the studio? Want to add sounds or music to the mix?
The mixer offers more growth options.

This changes the equation. Laptop sound cards are notoriously bad. Your mixer will have to go through the sound card, the USB solution won't.

Consider a hybrid device: analog in and USB out. Best of both worlds.
