Is it a good idea to start the war in Iran?

The US says it wants a diplomatic solution, but has not ruled out a military strike. Reports by Seymour Hersh of the New Yorker magazine that the US has been carrying secret reconnaissance missions to learn about nuclear, chemical and missile sites in Iran as a prelude for possible air strikes only pile on the jitters on an already uneasy oil market.

I think the Bush administration should announce its intention to hold direct talks with Iran.

What do you mean?

Rarely it is a good idea to start a war.

That would be a long discussion. In Iran you have a lot of people who have anything in common with the government. These people will suffer most under a war.
Yes Iran may be a threat but I also think there millions of people who need electricity and enery. Where is their coal? Oil won't be there in one hundred years. Wind and sun energy is a possibillity, but is not very efficient for millions of people. So everybody looks at alternative ways to produce energy. The most efficient is nuclear power.
Why must the government and their followers be that hard? If they try to be more diplomatic it would be much better for their country.

Everything Else
Since this site is mostly dedicated to podcasting, podcasters and the listeners, we decided maybe you would need a break to talk about other stuff. This is the place for off topic discussions.

Maybe off-topic, but really interesting. Why should you you only talk about podcasts? And what are podcasts made for? Just to talk about everything, even politics. Think a bit abou that

Starting a war in Iran would be a terrible mistake. Doing so would add such insult to injury that it's preposterous. I hate even the way the question is phrased. "Is it a good idea?" NEVER! It's a bad idea. I would have prefered, "is it a bad idea?"

War is just something dreamed up for supposedly legit reasons when economics are about 98 percent of the equation.

That's why the board provides an "everything else" category. I know you didn't start the topic, Tommy, so it's pointless to harp on it to you...

But the reason we discuss podcasting is that this is a site about podcasting. I know, it's kind of a stretch, but there you have it.

I agree the wars going on in our name are unjust, criminal and are the crux of US expansionism, and it is a topic worthy of discussion, but the original poster (if by some odd chance he-she-it isn't just a spammer), needs to read the frickin board categories and follow the forum rules in regards to posting. It really isn't that flippin' hard!
