Alright, so for the past 10 months or so I've been into Podcasting. Originally, I was podcasting on the PC. Tried a variety of software including Audacity, CastBlaster, and Audition amongst others. However, I recently switched out to an intel mac for the purpose of playing around with OSX, because it's nice and portable for Podcasting purposes, and because I liked what Garageband has to offer.

However, since since I switched over to Garageband, I've ran into a few problems. The main thing is that I can't get my volume levels to come out quite right. The meters in the software that show your voice levels seem to bounce around a lot more than previous software did. I don't know if I'm used to some compression settings that aren't on in this software, or what.

So I have a Behringer UB802 for the moment with an Alesis Smashup Compressor. Only all the settings and dials are foreign to me, and the manuals tend to assume that you are an expert in their explanations. They also assume that you are recording music as opposed to spoken words.

In any case, can someone throw me some tips on a> Getting the volume levels to work right in Garageband. b> Getting the Volume levels between two different mics to balance better. And c> What compressor settings to use to get the wavelengths a little closer.

Also, are there some nice tutorial sites out there for compressors and Garageband? Obviously after a year I can manage the hardware and software pretty well. However, I am always trying to improve the quality of the shows we do, and I think by mastering some of the settings and such I may be able to do just that.
