Yep, we do the MySpace thing! (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=58916807) I personally find the whole design and structure of the site itself abhorrant, but that's aesthetics for you. Ya' either love it or ya' hate it! MySpace has been useful, though, in helping to promote our show.
 Basically, the best secret I can give you is to participate. Participate genuinely and honestly. The hostess of our show goes to MySpace to post her blog, join in forums, etc. She's got over 100 friends, so it must be working. Me, (http://www.myspace.com/ewyeth) I have 10 (including "Tom").
I'll check your profile out! And your 'cast!

I think it's odd that people bash myspace. It's a tool. Therefore, it's what YOU make of it.
No one says, "man I hate that hammer." :D
With that said, I've met some great people, found our theme music, found two other brilliant bands and gained a TON of new listeners from myspace.

You know what hammer I hate? Rubber ones. Too hard to knock people on the head with, not hard enough to drive nails! I hate them hammers! Well, okay, they're technically mallets, but still...
Actually, I don't hate MySpace for what it is, I hate it for how it's implemented. There's a big difference. If I had a hammer that I had to use to build a house, but half the time I tried to use it, the head would fall off, I would hate using that hammer. MySpace is kind of like that hammer. It's hugely popular (good thing), so it has become incredibly slow (bad). I've seen numerous outtages since I first signed up, and the tools inside MySpace are a hodgepodge of utter uselessness and really bright ideas.
So far the community of MySpace is great -- no complaints. But the window through which you interact with that community is busted something feirce.

AHHHH! Gotcha. That makes sense.
In that case, "I hate myspace, too."
Doesn't work half the time and is broken the other half.
Stupid Tom. That guys sucks.

Oops! I meant "fierce!"
Note to self: Don't type with cat sitting on lap!

Oh yeah. Without trying to expose too many hang-ups, that Tom's a real wanker!

how about one more time with my spelling handicap feature turned off:
http://myspace.com/amateurtravelerpodcast
I have occasionally wondered about the wisdom of having a show name with two words that many people are not sure the of the spelling (UK and US spell traveler differently) and one of them French that no one should have to spell.

I dunno, I just don't get the point of MySpace. The interface sucks, they don't allow alterations to the template other than with CSS hacks, and it just seems like one of those endless memes that goes on and on. What they should make is some kinda node-run network of open source myspace servers that works like IRC or something. That would be more free than something run by Murdock.

I understand Murdock's --um-- involvement is fairly recent. MySpace sucked before he got there. Of course, now that he is involved, I expect things to go downhill much faster than they were without him! :)
And yeah, the interface for MySpace is an ugly hodge-podge. But depending on your demographic for your podcast, it could be just the place to be (social networking and all). If nothing else, it's free advertising.

I am not sure how successful it has been. I don't know if the people contacting me through myspace were already listeners or not I only started a couple of months ago.

I've just started up a new page for The-Broad-Cast (www.myspace.com/threebroads) and I'm in the process of requesting all the Dork & Diva friends to be our friend over there before I decommision it.
I also have a personal page at www.myspace.com/klicous which is currently being used to whore NLO. ;)
I love MySpace. I'll love it even more once I get a Pink PuPu Player!! LOL
