I just discovered something great for the podcaster on a budget. It's an ingenious and inexpensive microphone mounting system that will eliminate mechanical mic noise.

I am not associated with them in any way... just sharing the joy. I have mounts that I have paid $90 for. Wish I had discovered this sooner.

It looks like for big mics, you'd use this thing:

but I don't think that would work if you wanted to mount it from the bottom and address it from the front...

Looks like that would be ideal for my planned setup. I wnated arm mics mounted in my car.
Right now, I have Giant Squid Audio Labs clip mics clipped to a piece of wire hanging from my rear view mirror.
Need to come up with a way to make the mics mount on me headrests and swing over in front of myself and my passenger.

Wouldn't a headset mic work better? Most of them include some sort of noise isolation as well...

A headset mic might work. But I actaully want the road noise. Maybe I could set up a cabin mic and tweak the levels on it.
Also, that would "feel" right to me. if I had a headset mic on, I'd feel obligated to go into "RADIO MODE!" instead of just sort of riffing and talking.

If you are looking for sound insolation... This is PD Love's soundproofing trashcan. Pretty ingenious... :)
