Reward your audience and promote your podcast for free - offer them a first of its kind promotion, where they win in an auction with the lowest unique price! Yeah – the lowest, not the highest bid wins!

RedToucan, a new social network is offering a novel Auction promotion to all podcasters. Participate in a joint branding and cross-promotion to reward your audience with an Xbox prize for free. :P

RedToucan Auctions are in effect a sweepstake that comes in the form of an auction, where listeners participate to secure the lowest unique bid to win. It’s more than a sweeps, it a bunch of fun!

See how it all works at http://auctions.redtoucan.com - better still, sign up to road test it. You can bid on any active auction to get the idea – and it’s free.

------------------------

RedToucan/Podcast Promotion details

1- Is offered exclusively to Podcasters and their audience.

2- Listeners enter the auction with an access code announced exclusively via the participating podcasts.

3- Listeners sign up to RedToucan and enter the access code to participate in the Xbox auction.

4- RedToucan sponsors, administrates and funds the event and prize – there is no cost to the podcaster.

5- Duration of Podcast Auction promotion a 3 to 4 weeks – tbd.

Objective of Promotion - to create a cross-promotion where podcasters reward their listeners with a chance to win an Xbox and grow their audience through word of mouth – and RedToucan acquires new members. It’s a way to grow your audience to grow your advertising revenue potential.
(Additionally podcasters may create a Sponsor referral program for their subscribers to wear their virtual t-shirt at RedToucan.)

Podcaster eligibility.
We are currently considering various options to allow more, rather than less, podcasters to participate; we would like to strike a balance between opening it to all podcasters and limiting it, which would make it more manageable (less administration) and also make it more attractive to the participants as less makes for better odds. We are thinking of limiting to podcast with at least 500 listeners – is that a reasonable number to include most of you?

With enough interest, we look to run the promo auction in a couple of week’s time.

Let us know your thoughts?

If you’re interested contact us at bd@redtoucan.com

Thanks.

PS – This is a pre-launch offer, after the formal announcement the auctions will require a product/service sponsorship for participation.

how does the podcaster benefit, besides any buzz from the xbox auction thing?

how does the podcaster benefit, besides any buzz from the xbox auction thing?

In a number of ways;

- You are rewarding listeners with something – a novel form of entertainment and possibility of a good prize.

- By sponsoring your listeners at RedToucan (it’s free too) you get free impressions and links to your podcast from within the RedToucan.

- Listeners that invite friends to participate in the auctions get exposed to their friend’s favorite podcast - yours.

Remember, the access code for this specific auction will be released exclusively via the podcasters and so the RedToucan members that wish to participate in it will need to listen to your podcasts – it’s totally reciprocal.

The idea is to provide an alternative way to spread word of mouth with an incentive – with one objective, grow your audience.

Appreciate all your feedback – especially after you’ve played with it – that’s when you get the full appreciation of what is being offered.

cheers

how does redtoucan benefit? is the site ad-supported?
and if it's by the lowest bid, can't someone just bid...oh, i see. lowest unique bid. clever.

yep – ad supported.
we gave that a twist too – you, as a user, get to decide what is shown on your pages – have a look at the “ad preferences” link on any page (internal) above the skyscraper.

And in the near future the auction items will be sponsored by third parties looking to reward and get traffic

also look at the Admin - “Endorsements” subnav to get the idea of wearing your virtual t-shirt!

this will be issued to all participating podcast by email for you to pass onto your audience

there will be a access code field for these particular auctions - users will enter the access code to participate

i'm like most the public - never get round to reading the T&Cs or Privacy Policy - if you take a glance you will find that we are very particular about these things - short answer, we maintain communications to a minimum, as necessary only - and you have opt out for these on your Profile page

we have also designed the auctions so that you only receice an email notifying you of your bid status chnage and at the end of any auction you participated in - that's it. in addition, if you do not wish to receive bid status change emails you can set the messages to go to your RT PM only

also have a look at Forums - General - RT Threads - Communications with Members - Do we flood members with emails?

trust that is reasonble - we believe the site is yours and you control pretty much everything
