I have a Creative Muvo MP3 player (not an ipod), and I want to use it in the car. My previous car had a cassette tape where I was able to use the adapter to connect my MP3 player to the radio....and it worked great.

I now have a 2006 Honda Odyssey - yes I know it's a cool car, but I am the father of 2 kids and another one on the way - and my car did not come with a cassette tape nor do I have space for that option.

I bought a $40 Belkin FM transmitter, but it was terrible. The static gave my wife a headache.

Can anyone recommend to me a non-ipod FM transmitter that has good results? The reason I say non-ipod is because ipod specific FM transmitters can not connect to my MP3 player.

Thanks!
Michael

It's not the transmitter, it's the transmitting. The Belkin transmitter is a fine one. As is the Bose one, as is the $20 one you can get at Wal Mart. But they will ALL give you static.

Do what I did, buy some nice portable speakers (even $20 ones work for this purpose) and mount them in your car. Make sure they need external power becasue your mp3 player won't pump out enough to make a loud enough sound.

Agreed. I had a Belkin attachment that worked great. Unfortunately, it cushioned the blow of my accidentally dropped MP3 player. MP3 player fine, Belkin FM Tuner was replaced. The replacement is not nearly as good.

However, in both cases I found that I had to follow the instructions to the letter to get the best performance out of them. If you are in a major metropolitan area and there are A LOT of stations on the dial, you will always compete with static to some degree.

If your desire is to have no static at all, consider getting one of those tape deck inserts or some other hard wired set-up for your car. If you are particular about the audio quality, you probably won't find an FM transmitter that will make you happy all the time.
