I was orginally going to register with Lunar Pages for like 10 dollars a month they seem to have a good deal and php support apache. i like there turturial area looks very idiot friendly. Problem being how fast does 500 gigs of bandwith get ate up. I saw people saying to put your mp3 files on http://www.yourfreespace.net/index.php and then use a feedburner to direct your site there. Trying to keep the cost down as much as possible. Anyone see much fault with this plan or could suggest a better one i dont see me going up to more then like 1k of users downloading 30 minutes show probly bi to tri monthly. How would you guys start over at the beginning if you could. Any thought and idea would be a apprecaited.

im weekly, have more than 1k downloads per show, and encode anywhere between 96 and 200. im no where near my 500 GB limit from siteground (http://www.siteground.com)...but thats more, full on web hosting
if you're worried about gettin overloaded with traffic, you could host your mp3s on switchpod (http://www.switchpod.com). unlimited bandwidth for all account types, including a free version

Siteground looks good. Will try it out 5 dollars a month is cheaper then what i was looking at with lunar pages and powweb. So it will be a flat rate of 60 dollars for the year.

If space or bandwidth is a big concern, I recommend u http://www.podbean.com, no bandwidth limit even for free account, no storage limit for paid account because of monthly archive space. So video podcast is easy.

This is a message to "ElNacho."
How long have you used siteground? I've read some pretty bad reviews of their customer service and was wondering if you've had any issues. I'm looking for a regular hosting service/podcast host.
thanks!

i've had siteground since june '05 and have had 2 pretty big hassles with them.
1) I was told that I was violating their TOS so they suspended my acocunt for 3 days before they would even explain why. They accused me of abusing their CPUs and wanted to charge me $75 to optimize my account to remove the server overload. It actually took 3 minutes to optimize and once done they were happy (except that they failed to bilk me out of $75 for optimizing or $80/month for a VPN.
2) I kept getting accusatory emails weeks after telling me that they were"closely monitoring" my account due to the previous abuse (which i had no idea about).
Another popular podcaster here had his account almost closed due to the fact that they called him a music pirate because he had numerous mp3's on his account (which were his podcasts which had no RIAA material in them).
be weary with siteground. there are always other options....
see http://www.okaytoplay.com/podcast-hosting/ for some good ideas.
good luck
