OK, just found on Digg.com something about a webpage called the Million Dollar Ho Page, a take-off of the www.MillionDollarHomePage.com It appears to be not only an exact ripoff of the original, but a comical one...with money being raised to get a ho of the streets. Funny.
But after creating my 3X2 square image and dropping $12 on my requested spot (upper left corner), I'm wondering if I just fell for something I shouldn't have...
On the other hand, $12 for a small spot on what could get some heavy coverage as being a spoof of the famous www.MillionDollarHomePage.com, this very well could be a cheap, fun way for Podcasters to get the word out about their shows!
I don't know...did I make a mistake trying it or, as the first podcaster to drop cash on it, am I going to be pounded with hits from www.MillionDollarHoPage.com ?
Just thinking aloud, I suppose....

Hey nothing is wrong with being careful. It was a $12 chance - I was spookied out aout the discover podcasts thing when I first signed up. I get that way about everything i do that requires me to put money out. I work hard for it & the thought of wasting it makes me sick.
I hope it was the best thing since sliced bread - Let me know how it works out. You never know until you try.

You only got scammed if you don't get your square :)
Besides, Hos need help, too!

Edit-- On second thought, after having just visited the site, I have to say shame! Doncha think it's rather racist? Or maybe I'm just being too goddam sensitive... Nah! I'm not. I wouldn't want my podcast associated with that!

I think you fell for a scam. I bet none of that money will be used to get a whore off the street.

OK, I know it hasn't been quite 24 hours yet, but I have not received an e-mail from the person running the site yet and my image is not there yet. I'll give them until noon today. If nothing happens, I'll e-mail the site owner.
If this works, I'll let everyone know. If it doesn't, and I got scammed, I'll let everyone know that, too!

You wasted your money. Even if the site gives you what you bought, those sorts of ad-only sites don't generate significant clickthroughs. Consider: how many ads have you clicked on sites like that? Do you think everybody else clicks on them more than you do?
The good news is you only wasted twelve bucks.

Your point is well taken....but when I first found out about the original Million dollar page, I did spend some time looking at the little icons and graphics and rolling the mouse over some of them to see what they were all about. I clicked on a few, but didnt' stick around....and no, I didn't buy any products from links on that page and haven't returned to any of those pages...So again, you have a great point.
For $12 bucks the potentially first logical spot somebody would look (at least from my odd American perspective) would be top left because we read top down, left to right...and with a little icon that says "Funny Show", perhaps it would spark at least some clicks....and from the level of listeners I have, I could use as many more as possible...even if the clickthrough does only occur once in a while...and the even smaller percentage that do click through actually listen to a show.
It would sure be nice if this spoof-off of the original generated some media attention...especially if my icon eventually does end up in that first spot....
I e-mailed the webmaster already...and nothing yet...and the icon has still not appeared. If I did get ripped off, hopefully this thread will let other podcasters who spend their time on Digg.com not to bother with this....
Tnx for the feedback everyone!

The site is listing pixels at 2c each, not $1. Just to hammer another nail in this one.

Yea, I saw that. They're selling 10X10 pixel blocks at $2 per block. I bought 6 blocks (3x2). That's where the $12 came from....
Still no word from the admin...I got shafted....**** it.
