Adverts for the tax on the poor known as gambling have started to appear on PCA. Sad...very sad.

Don't you mean tax on the stupid?

(Although, I must confess that I just got back from Vegas)

My question is why advertise a website that's illegal for people in the US to use?

Perhaps because the appeal of PCA reaches beyond the US?

Nothing wrong with monetizing.

Go success!

Who the **** are you to be questioning ads on podcastalley.com?

No offense, but it's not your site. As far as I know, it's a free country, and PCA is a business. It's called capitalism.

"Sad...very sad."

**** you. Get over it. I swear to God you people worry about the stupidest ****.

I actually agree with Patrick's position -- just not the a-holish manner in which he stated it.

hey I go away for 6+ months and come back and nothing's changed,

The irony is the scourge of bloggers and podcasters - the spam - is generated by companies like this - texas hold em and the like.

Actually, for the most part, it's pretty quiet around here (by quiet, I mean "civil"). Of course, you still have some folks who come in here and apparently like to abuse the fact that moderators seem to be sight-unseen.

Said it before, I'll say it again: Patrick, get yourself over to the community rules thread and reread them. (http://www.podcastalley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1081) Seems you've forgotten how to have a debate.

Heh. You said Moderators.

Any non-Download ad is a good ad, but is this the big change we were told to look forward to? I was kind of hoping the ability to edit my show's page. But I guess any change is good change.

But as for advertisitng whatever they want, I'm all for that. Ferf's got the right to put whatever he wants on his own website. Maybe he'll make enough money to hire a webmaster.

Actually, PCA is part of Podshow, but to what extent they control it, I don't know. Only the Ferf can answer that. I think Podshow is unrolling the new stuff when PodShow PDN is officially released (but not entirely sure on that point). Apparently, there's some hang up with the new mail system, which is slowing things down.

Is it legal? Sure.
Is it moral? That's up to you.
Is it good business practice? That's up to them.

Is it tacky? Absolutely....

Chris - you're actually risking a lot by putting up Gambling Ads on your site. By the way, i'm indifferent to it. Anyways, I do some SEO work and I know that Google and Yahoo are starting to crack down on Gambling Ads. I have seen some website's search rankings drop significantly because they display gambling ads on their site. I know for sure that Yahoo will make it almost impossible for you to purchase keywords from them if you have any sort of gambling on your site.

Just wanted to help a fellow Community Site out, so take it for what it's worth.

I'm not one to judge others...I just don't see the harm with Gambling ads...but I most certainly applaud Chris for his efforts at making money on this site. PCA is a great service, as is PodShow.

Here's hoping all of the great PodCasters can cash in for their art!

People are being killed everywhere in the world for their beliefs and dreams, while we bicker over oil prices.

We are losing our rights on a daily basis(because we Americans are too lazy to do something about it)

Sickness and Diseases are killing children everywhere and the Drug companies wont do anything, because there's no money in it for them.

BUT,

HOLY SHITE, GAMBLING ADS ARE ON PCA,...AHHHHHHHHH!
RUN FOR COVER, WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank You Patrick. I have respect for you.
