Will podcasting be to this election cycle what online donations were to the Dean Presidential bid (ie, transformative)?

Seems like a demographic that is ripe for this type of audio.

I urge all podcasters to contact your local congressperson and VOLUNTEER to enable them to podcast! (well, it's the thought that counts...)

I think that podcasting will pervade all areas of our lives before long. Many people I talk to say that they had never heard of podcasting until they saw something in their newspaper that directed they to the paper's podcast-once mainstream media gets involved the party is over(or just starting, depending on your point of view.)

I don't care much for election year because I get so tired of the ads and the signs and the recorded phone calls from Arnie wanting me to vote for all his propositions-I hope my fav podcasts steer clear of politics. I'd rather talk about baseball :)

A valid point. But just because a Podcaster approaches a campaign about doing a podcast, it doesn't mean they have to give their own personal podcast over to the campaign. Instead, I think the best idea would be for the experienced podcaster to offer their assistance in helping to set up a campaign's podcast.

Although... Can you imagine the kind of campaign podcast you might get if you put Dawn and Drew in charge? I would pay to hear that! :D

Of course, but to be noble and help out another (left, right, green, red, ...) to also use podcasting to get out thier message must be a good thing.

The beauty of podcasting- YOU have to subscribe, it's not an involuntary "push" media (like the cold calls, tv, mail, or radio)! For the end user, it's Tune in or tune out- you gotta love choice 8)
