Hello,
Everyone tell me what headphones you use during your podcast. I was looking for something under $100 that can be used for my hours of editing. The louder the better because I don't have the best hearing. I kind of like the 70's big over the ears, listening to Zepplin style.

Our Studio Headphones (http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/productdetail.asp?transid=005180)
Paid $50 at Musician's Friend (http://musiciansfriend.com/)
They're very light. You forget that you have them on.

For recording we use closed headphones. These give a pretty unnatural sound but they stop sound from leaking out onto the mic.
For listening and checking mixes we'll use open headphones as these give a much more representative sound and aren't so fatiguing to the ears. Of course they would be no good for tracking because of the audio leaking from them.
When tracking in the studio we use Beyer DT100s, DT150s and DT770s. My own favourite is the Sennheiser HD250 linear but I don't think this model's available now.
For checking mixes my preference is the Sennheiser HD540 reference headphones, they're very transparent and don't tire the ears. Like I say, they're open back headphones so no good for tracking. I don't think the 540s are available now either :-(

Labtec GO440 - they are about as fancy as the cheap headphone Sony used to provide with their tape Walkman.
While I am recording, I do not wear the headphones. I watch my voice, and headphones come in during editing.

Careful with that. I did the same thing and screwed up an episode. (#10).
Learn from my mistakes. Wear headphones or have someone else play 'audio engineer' for you.

I use my ancient Sony MDR-V6 (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00001WRSJ.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg) Studio monitor headphones.
I've replaced the jack twice. The foam in the earpieces disintegrated and was replaced with a lovely pink foam we found somewhere. Now the "leather" on the ear surrounds is wearing out.
I might have to get new ones, but I love these. They were the DJ standard back when i got them in the 80s for around $100. A quick google search shows them still to be available, and I just found the earpads for $14. Cool! Now I don't need to buy new ones!

I use Koss Porta Pro headphones for both recording and editing.
Cost $39.95.
I use my laptop to record the show, and even though they are open style headphones, I've had no problems with feedback.
Compared to the $300 Senheisser and AKG headphones, they hold their own dollar for dollar.

This is good advice - I had to re-record one of my early shows because of it. That also prompted the investment in a pop filter.
But it is somewhat a force of habit. When I recorded my first show, I was so self-conscious during the process that I did not look at the monitor or keep my headphones on. I have no problem with public speaking, but my first podcast was a very odd experience. So since the first show I do a lot of post production.

We use the MDR-V600's also and they are amazing!
you will not regret getting them, dont get the V700's, they are the dejay style and the sqivel part near the ear piece breaks off very easily.
