Why does it bother you so much? That show is what it is. It's just a show.
Do you get mad at the TV too? It's good that big bussiness is interested in podcasting. It shouldn't feel threatening. They're not telling you that you can't do your podcast.
I don't understand why you'rw attacking AC
AC likes the inde podcasters, but he also understands that for podcasting to get where it needs to be, then this must happen.
1 of 3 things will happen.

1. the public wont accept the commercialized shows and revert to Reality, much like Reality TV.

2. They will take over because, maybe, the public will decide it wants better quality and talent (not that the general public has ever been able to judge that)

3. They will both exhist, one feeding the other. They will find a balance, and the podcasters that continue to do it for fun will, and they will still have their audience. Some indie shows will get sponsors.

Your reaction to this type of show is non other than jelousy. You probably will deny that, but there is no other reason to get mad at something that has nothing to do with you.

Just do your show, because it's better than theirs. Be happy with that.

Adam Curry now offering money for listeners to find dirt on his enemies?

Ranting about people using his property for commercial gain? (can we say mashup Mr. Curry?)

Describing Heather and Jonelle as:

"Its a fun show if you want to talk trash among girlfriends"

I listened to this show again, now I know why I don't bother, Curry is a joke who makes different rules for himself and gets all mad when others do the same thing he does.

Give em hell Chad-

Jack

Jealous? That's classic, its what people say when they have no real arguments, Your Jealous! Its calling names, like when Adam Curry called me a loud mouth, hopefully we can avoid calling names Adam and Steve and we can just stick to pointed concerns.

you have your lies you hold to and I have mine.

Like you said what's the point of arguing on here with you about it. I don't know you and probably never will. I am sorry for making the post in the beginning.

I think you seriously misread the post though. But that is just my opinion.

I read it just fine and understand what you said.
I just dont want to trash a person, but the behavior, I will.
I have learned over many years of studying confrontation not to attack a person, but rather the behavior.
I don't dislike AC, however, there are some things that he does that bothers me. That I will address.
Yes, I stopped listening to AC's show, when:
1. The language got out of control.
2. The content got boring
3. He started to sound fake.

It's not what i'm interested in listening to, anymore. I dont hate or dislike him. I just dont want to listen to his show. I like to know that something is real and tangeble.

This is how I learned to confront a subject and not a person.
I've been in too many fights in the past, where as, instead of confronting the behavior, I confronted the person instead, and someone got hurt every time. And it doesn't make you look too good in the eyes and ears of the people around you, when you confront a person instead of the behavior.

I'm not trying to bash you.

To be honest, I'd like like to meet a lot of you guys and girls someday.

Steve,

We had a discussion over at the Pickle forums this weekend with Adam. We politely but forcefully stated each other's positions and had a good discussion and left it on good terms with Adam even giving a peace offering by letting us look at a screen shot of the new PDN.

So we agreed to disagree and that was it. Then on DSC today he called us stupid and said we needed to grow up. I knew if I responded on his board or sent an email he wouldn't read it, so I posted it to the forums.

I know most of you don't care about this kind of stuff but some do and it was meant for them.

Sorry to waste your time having to read and repost to it.

By saying you misunderstood the post I wasn't inferring you couldn't read, but maybe you were coming in during the middle of the conversation.

A telling comment.... you now know why you "don't bother", but you not only listened to this show, you listened, at least, a second time.

You are completely predictable. Listen a third time, and pay attention to the part about "talkers, and do'ers".

well P.W.

Mr. Curry talked alot of trash today, why is anyone suprised when people react to it. He actually offered cash for people to dig up dirt on an enemy of his family. That's intenable.

Why is it ok for AC to get all mad about people using his flickr images yet for months he was playing illegal mashups (as were you playing illegal tunes btw) arguably for commercial gain. (the whole time promoting CastBlaster and Podshow)

Face it, most indie podcasters are turned off by this guy, its not my problem its Mr. Curry's. He has to find a way to do some good for the community if he expects to be taken seriously when he bashes entire groups of people on his show. I feel that what positive contributions he has made do not give him carte blanche, nor do the exclude him from further philanthopy. I do my part, I'd hope Mr. Curry does too.

As for the Doers and Talkers mumbo jumbo, it sounds like a bad speech written for GWB, "now there's doers and then theirs talkers, and talkers are bad, and lazy!" what a joke.

Adam talks more **** than anyone, he said that Heather and Jonelle talk trash with their girlfriends, why is anyone suprised when the rest of us give it right back?

What you don't like is that, though Steve and I and Chad disagreed on this, we all agreed that Curry's show is lame. That's what burned you, I can't change that, I play good music on my show, I don't offer money to listeners for stalking my enemies, and I don't try and mislead people with disinformation. I may often be an opinionated hothead, but everything I say comes from my heart, like it or not, I have no agenda here. I don't feel any pressure to make money for my investors, I have a different viewpoint altogether. One that is more common, in fact, than your's or Mr. Curry's.

Peace out PW-

Jack

I listen cause I like it, and Pop show, I mean Podshow has thrown a bone or two my way, and I gained some listeners from it. But I have to say I think putting a price on someones head shot is a disaster waiting to happen.
But he sure is a pro at publicity, Wish I could stir up controversy like that dude.

Are again we have the clash of what podcasting is and isn't......

Is it art or is it just another form of media.....

Does it all matter.....

Well you can be doers or talkers as long as it's entertaining I'll listen.....

Well, in AC's defense, why is he going after somebody?

Did he say why? Was he joking? What episode was that? I want to catch it.

I can imagine being so pissed off that I'd go out of my way to drive someone nuts. I haven't done it. But I can imagine.

Someone in AC's position can't please everyone.

How come the original post was deleted? Somebody care to repost what it says?

If we don't know someone personally, we gotta take that into consideration.

My thought is that he's probably generally a good person, just like most the guys attacking him are too.

Whatever the case may be, none of us would have podcasts if somebody didn't come up with the way. I'm not saying who it is, but there's some appreciation on my end for making it possible.

jumping into the fray late, I have to say, I think you all missed the point.

AC was ranting about the incessant whining that is rampant on forums. When a forum degenerates into just bashing and venting, it becomes boring. and THAT was the point I believe AC was making about this forum, the Pickle forum, and forums in general.

Believe in what AC does, or not. Listen to his show, or not. Your opinions are yours, and his are his. No one is required to listen, read or agree.

I like Adam, I like his show, and the efforts he's making towards making Podcasting a viable media. And yes, "Viable" means there will be MONEY. That is not bad. I do this for fun. Money would be great. Any job that you would do for no money (which is just about every one of us) is made even better when it pays the bills.

I agree 100% Jake..and let me add my 2 cents.

Its a fact that most of the people bashing Adam Curry know little to nothing about what he is doing, mainly because they don't listen to his show. Personally aside from some extended car talk and lots of info on shavers I did not know I needed, Daily Source Code is a virtual MBA in Podcasting. I have listened for a year and gotten an amazing amount of info and ideas from it ( and I am doing OK in this biz so far www.fmstudio.com ).

Its no accident that some of the most successful podcasters listen to the show, because there are tons of ideas and info about this new media landscape in each DSC. Sure some of it is Podshow, but even that, seeing how Adam is building a podcast company and brand, in real-time, daily, where you can send in feedback and have him response, is fantastic.

The whole concept here is to "free the airwaves" (its at the top left of this page..go look..I'll wait...) and we're all in this together. The forums here used to be an amazing community of people helping each other with exciting ideas. It has changed a bit.

I think the parading around waving the "adam is evil" flag is getting a bit old. I'd love to see that bandwidth taken up with informed spirited discussions.

As long as they are informed.

And yes, spirited...

I can admit that I've never heard an Adam show, and I've heard a ton of shows out there. Everyone talks about Adam. I guess I consider it like tuning into a hit radio station, which I would NEVER EVER do.

I guess by your comments, which I value more than the hype, I might check one or two out.

I would hate to steal ideas from any show, especially the biggest or "best", and that would likely happen, because I am a MEDIA UROLOGIST {taken from WLW - The Gary Burbank Show}.

I guess that's why we all poke fun, cuz we want to be the biggest. We already ARE the best!

Thanks.
