I like the grainy film effect and the subtle sound effects of a reel projector.
Watching a doll, sorry, an action figure, for four of five minutes who just moved about a little bit got stale. I don't have any ideas of the top of my head to liven it up. Triumph, the insult comic got away with that but he also had the benefit of interviewing people.
Speaking of which, maybe Samurai dude (does he have a name?) could interview famous action figures of yore like G.I. Joe (you could talk about his take on the Iraqi occupation), Big Jim (does he still live in his vinyl dojo), or talking Barbi (talking barbi says "Math is hard!").
Just some ideas. I lke what you're doing. Keep running with it!
