I just bought a Samson CO1U, which is a USB mic. Since I have many USB ports (I think 6) would it work to buy another mic and have both going at the same time to record my co host? Im using Adobe Audition and a Windows computer.

I have heard that you cannot. I don't know if it is because of USB or the Samson itself.

I think that would require an adapter or a mixer if you intend to plug two USB mics in to one PC.

Hi,
When you plug in the Samson CO1U Mic this is what happens according to the Samson Owners Manual:
"The C01U is now recognized as a Windows audio device under the name Samson C01U. Each additional C01U will have a number added, such as Samson C01U (2), and so on."
This is from the FAQ found on the Samson CO1U page:
"Can I use multiple C01U microphones at the same time?
Yes, provided the audio application allows the use of multiple USB audio devices."
Summary:
The use of multiple Samson CO1U microphones is limited only by the recording software, not Windows. You need to read the Audition documentation for this information.
Also, as far as I know, a USB mixer for digital mic inputs is not available. If you want to mix several mic inputs, you will have to switch over to analog mics.
Good Luck!

Yeah - what he said. I was told that I could get both the usb mics I bought to work if I bought another sound card. More than I wanted to pay. We ended up buying the plug mics, and usng a splitter. Make sure you buy 2. One for the mics and one for the headphones. The thing I really like about our headphones is that I can turn the sound down on our headphones s we can't hear ourselves talk.
peace Out & good luck with your podcast.

Audition is some hardcore stuff i've heard, so i'm guessing you would have no problems. I want that mic....no money when you're 13 i guess though...

The other option (and I don't know much about it yet) is that I've heard there are mixers coming out which have USB ports on them. I don't know the brands or what the USB ports are for yet. But it's something you might want to look into. The only downside to this will most likely be that the computer will see it as only one audio source coming in, which if you're attempting to record multiple tracks in Audition, will make it impossible... unless there's a mixer that supports USB mics AND somehow tells your computer to retain each individual audio device ID... all up in the air. It's definately an evolving technology. :)

I've had a lot of good results using the Samson mic. It's a keeper!
