Hi, this is my first post here. I want to buy a binaural microphone for recording ambience and general purpose use.
I'm very impressed with the recordings over at notesfromspain.com which have been made with this $49.00 microphone:
SP-BMC-2

SoundProfessionals make the same microphone but in a headphone mounting for $69.00 -- for my intended purposes this mounting would be far more convenient and a lot less conspicuous than two lapel mics with black furry socks over them ;-)
SP-HMC-1

Do you think the pick-up of the headset version will be as good as the lapel version?
The headset has a foam covering, do you think this will be sufficient wind protection – is it going to be any worse than the covers for the lapel version?

I thank anyone who can provide me with some feedback on this.

Regards,

Alex Ellis

PS: You may say $69.00 isn’t a lot of money for binaural microphones, but there is an unfortunate $40.00 shipping charge!

I bought an even cheeper pair from ebay:

Very discreet and you can have them on your head or on your lapel.. :)
