Hi, I would like to listen to podcasts from "Pointofinquiry", but the link given comes with all this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <rss version="2.0" xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#" xmlns:cc="http://web.resource.org/cc/" xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd">

<itunes:subtitle>Science, Skepticism, Rationalism, Humanism -- The Podcast and Radio Show of the Center for Inquiry</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Point of Inquiry is the Center for Inquiry's radio show and podcast, drawing on CFI's relationship with the leading minds of the day including Nobel Prize-winning scientists, public intellectuals, social critics and thinkers, and renowned entertainers. Each episode combines incisive interviews, features and commentary ....

etc etc.
I don't know what part of this is needed for my podcatcher (Nimiq). From the above I pasted the following onto Nimiq:
- <rss version="2.0" xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#" xmlns:cc="http://web.resource.org/cc/"

But it doesn't work. What Am I doing wrong? The other option given is to use iTunes, but I do not have an iPod, so I don't know if I can use it.
I am new to using podcasts, so any help will be greatly appreciated

You don't want any of that. Or you want all of it.

You want the FILE that contains that information. Specifically, you want the LINK to that file so when the podcast producer updates it, your software will realize it and download the new episode.

So, back up a page to the homepage of the podcast. That link you clicked on (the one that either said 'podcast feed' or 'rss' or whatever), RIGHT click on it, and say 'copy link' or 'copy target location' or whatever your browser prompts you.

Then, go to your pod catcher and paste what's in your clipboard into the "add new feed" area. It should look something like http://www.somesite.com/somedirectory/somename.xml

Hope this helps...

You just need to insert the feed link into your podcatcher to subscribe to the feed.

Read This: Podcasting 101 (http://www.808talk.com/extras/Podcasting101.pdf) by Ken Underwood from Parrott Talks (http://www.parrotttalks.com/radio.html)

Copy & Paste This Link: http://pointofinquiry.libsyn.com/rss

I tried that, but I get the message "please enter a valid URL"

How about using iTunes? is it possible to use it without an iPod?

Hi, I would like to listen to podcasts from "Pointofinquiry", but the link given comes with all this...

All you want to do is listen?

go to http://www.feedthenetwork.com

click on SEARCH
type in Point of inquiry
click search

Or - go straight there:
http://www.feedthenetwork.com/search1.asp?strkw=ftn:1536

There's 11 or so current episodes there - it should stay pretty updated.

How about using iTunes? is it possible to use it without an iPod?

You can use iTunes on Mac or PC and no iPod is required. iTunes lets you listen to the podcast and other media files right on your computer. The only thing it does with the iPod is sync it to have the same library that you have in iTunes so you can take it on the go.

Did you read the link to the Podcasting 101 file I posted above? It talks about iTunes and how to get it and subscribe to a podcast.

:D

Thank you all who answered my questiion. I used the link provided by ElNacho and that seems to work. Thanks to 808Talk for your explanation about iTunes, that was very useful
