I've been able to lock up a show sponsor for the next 3 months, and will be working towards a longer contract with them. The contract extension is going to depend on how well the show performs for them. So how do I show that advertising on the podcast helped to boost their business?

Is the growth of the show enough or what matrix should I focus on?
I will be able to track any business from the website, but business that comes to them from the podcast is going to be hard to track.

Also is anyone out there running a podcast with more that one sponsor on there show. In our advertising plan there is room for 2 minor sponsors that we can put in the shows format.

Tough questions. I know that the Podcast Brothers suggest that if you are going to engage sponsers and have hopes to continue with them, the onus is on you to prove that the economics of their association with you is to their benefit.

The growth of your show, sadly, doesn't really prove to them anything as you've probably surmised. It's a nice 'byline' but it's not the meat they are looking for. They are looking for a return on their investment.

I would go the Podcast Brother's website and see if they have a forum or any recommendations or even email them. I believe they said that one of the ways to help is to at least be able to deliver good demographical information so they can properly assess their demographic coverage. I think they also recommend working with the company on setting up some performance metrics that you both can agree to. Once you agree to the metrics (for example, units sold before and after the initial campaign), some of the numbers would be collected by the company.

Good luck!

We are going to be working off a growth of the show along with a tracking system of promo codes and links from the website. We'll see how it goes. I hope at the end of the 3 month contract we can bring enough firm data to the table to be able to show them.

Hi . . . the same question has been brought up regarding advertising through TIVO customers . . . well, KFC came out with an Ad that only TIVO users could see which contained a coupon for some free chicken or something like that . . . this helped gauge the advertisements effectiveness . . .

a word of advice is that you research radio station press kits and analyze their advertisement rates . . . if you know you have a certain number of listeners, you can pro-rate your rates to be somewhat the same.

hope that helps!
