Hey guys. Thought I'd take a sec and present a simple and free podcasting hosting service for those of you who've got content but nowhere to host your stuff. :)

We've set up MediaBlog ( http://mediablog.mail2web.com/ ) to be extremely user-friendly for the ambitious podcaster. Once you enable podcasting in your Media area, simply upload your audio/video files into your designated podcast folder, and your podcast RSS feed is automatically generated for you. Done. Just spread around your feed URL, add it to iTunes, and wait for your listeners to tune in...

We even put together a nice splash page for your listeners to hit if they're interested in finding out more about your show (as an example, here's my podcast splash page (http://mediablog.mail2web.com/sully/media/podcast/)). You can use the integrated blog system to provide a more full-featured experience for your subscribers too. :)

Disk space and bandwidth = free and unlimited.

Please let me know if there are any questions/concerns. :) Be happy to help anyone starting out.

You're quite welcome to register at our website and use the podcasting service to host and promote your advertising podcast, if that's what you mean.

We're not restricting its use in any way as far as I know. (Except for the obvious restrictions like on illegal content.) :)

What's the catch? Do you add advertising to the content? How do you plan to earn back your investment in this service?

Currently, our plan to recoup bandwidth costs for podcast hosting is through the ads featured on the podcaster's web pages (example: my podcast's home page (http://mediablog.mail2web.com/sully/media/podcast/)). We hope that the podcaster will make use of the blogging functionality to better connect with his/her audience.

In the near term future, I can see us appending a message along the lines of, "This podcast hosted for free at http://mediablog.mail2web.com/ - start podcasting today!" to the end of podcast file descriptions (what you see when playing a podcast on your iPod after clicking the center button twice).

In the long term (we're talking > 6 months from now), possibly a 5 or 10 second advertisement tacked on to the start of audio podcasts. There's a lot of complications involved in the coding of such a move, so I'd wager it'd be a good long time before something of this nature occurred.

In the even longer term - and now I'm talking pure personal theory - the success of podcast hosting on MediaBlog could lead to a dedicated podcasting service run out of myhosting.com (http://myhosting.com/), which is also managed out of this office. We're definitely not worried about bandwidth and storage bills. :)

Very pleased with the ease of use. I would be very interested in a premium service that offered some more options. Such as a static content area for links, Paypal, etc.

personally, i use www.host100gb.com and www.1and1.com

they are fast and a good deal. and are the largest shared hosting (http://host100gb.com) provider

it include a domain name, 100Gb of web space (http://host100gb.com), 20 email addresses, 2GB of mailbox space per account, 100 MySQL databases (http://host100gb.com), 100 email aliases, photo galleries builder, web builder, blog and rss capabilities, firewall protextion, etc....

and that is only the beginner package at $4 a month. Go up to $5 a month, and get 100Gb of space, 1200 email accounts, 2 domain names, host many other websites there as well, 25 MySQL databases, etc. etc. etc....

they are the best deal i think. I've used them to host (http://host100gb.com) over 65-70 web sites.
