Curry mentioned on his show today that Podshow has sold millions of dollars worth of advertising at this point. That doesn't sound possible to me.

Thoughts?

It's easy to believe. It may mean millions of dollars over many months, but isn't monetizing podcasting a big part of what he's about?

Rocketboom just sold five days worth of ads for $40,000

I believe podshow's figures. It all depends for what time span.

In that case, I have a couple 100,000 listeners. ;)

Yes, but I believe that one of the reasons rocketboom was able to do that was because of the novelty and attention around the auction. Do you think they would be able to consistently get $40k per week for advertising? Maybe so...who knows.

But back to Podshow, the only sponsorships I've heard on Podshow are Earthlink, iDog, Absolute, Acuvue, and the MM50. So we're saying that those five advertisers contributed to what amounts to millions? With podcasting being such a new medium, I just find it hard to believe that a company like Earthlink would say, "hey we'll throw a million dollars your way to try out some ads."

I'm not saying it didn't happen, it just seems hard to fathom at this point in podcasting.

I've heard of other sponsor too. I believe it. Curry is on the cusp of an empire. Stay Tuned!! I feel it in my bones.
