I'm pretty new to the internet stats idea, but I was wondering if anyone could advise on how they are tracking the number of downloads their show is getting. Thanks!

My current host provides me with awstats on the daily apache logs, and also gives me the logs themselves. The awstats give me a pretty good idea of number of downloads, and I can also, if I really want to inspect my logs with a comb, search the files for all instances of '.mp3' or 'feed.xml' and see exactly what's going on.
But mostly I use awstats, its easier and does all the math for me.

My provider uses Traffic Facts godaddy.com and actual downloads/ subscriptions are tougher to track.
It's really more of a guessing game/ estimate, as far as tracking how many listeners.

Depends how you host your show: Libsyn has a stats package that podcasters who use it seem to like a lot. I still host on my own hosting service provider (ipowerweb.com) and review stats through the control panel.

I'm using Podomatic. Their stats are very helpful. They give you stats on download per episodes which to me is very convienent, and their customer service is very good. Their prices are very reasonable, however unlike Libsyn, you do have to pay for bandwidth.

I'm using webalizer to track downloads. One way I used to check for subscribers is: I put up a show and didn't add it to my website. A couple of days later, I looked at the number of downloads. That is just an estimate. I probably should have waited a week.
