We're trying something new. We are buying $25 spots on podcasts that have similar audiences. For instance, we just bought a few commercials for Sex is Fun! on Polyamory Weekly. I'll be sure and tell you how well it works for capturing a new audience. Though aside from capturing a larger audience I like this idea as it gives us a chance to support other podcasts that we think offer something valuable to the community. This is something that I'd do anyway.

I would love to give away a couple of your games on my show.

I'll talk about you a little, link to you on my site and then give away some of your schwag.

If we like the game, we might even play it on the air!

Let me know and we'll work out the details.

For 25$ you can potentially steal listeners from one show and bring them to yours. If the show is like minded, then it's competition and I don't see that being a good thing, and especially not for 25 bucks. However, I would like to see where this goes. I think, for myself, It would be good to put a karate ad in a boxing show, because a lot of them like karate too, but wouldn't leave one for the other. They would listen to both.

Good thoughts, but I'm not sure if they would compete or compliment. Here's why: Competing implies that you have to listen to either/or, and not both. That may be the case with competing TV shows on in the same time slot, but with Podcasts, you listen or watch at your own convenience.

Now, an argument could be made that who wants 10 different karate podcasts in their playlists, and that makes some sense. Except, again, that might be looking too narrowly at it. I mean, how many comic book collectors collect just one title? Who says that because you like Marvel superhero comics that you can't like DC superhero comics?

Another idea of complimentary podcasts would be if you have a food Podcast (Eat Feed for example, which is more general interest) and wanted to advertise in another podcast about food (like one that concentrates on a specific cooking method, such as baking), then you don't really compete.

But those are just my thoughts,

Eric

Great idea. Do check how many subs the other show has?

You make a very good point. A lot of my listeners subscribe to others. I guess the quest would be not to be redundant to everyone elses show.

Thanks for the input.

I hear you Steve, but I think that Sex is Fun! is quite different from the shows where we are placing ads. We're all talking about sex, but Polyamory Weekly deals with multiple partner issues, Fetish Flame deals with fetishes and we are just a general sex discussion show. We're not going to steal any listeners but I think that the same audience can learn from us too. Really though, I like to support other podcasters that I like and if I can get the corporation to pay for it, I'll do it.

Getting anyone to pay for it is a start.
