Sell your music online with iTunes and Rhapsody WITHOUT record labels!

I got this from Digg.com. Here's the direct link. http://www.tunecore.com/

I don't know how legit it is. I also don't know if anyone here could use it. But, if you're a music show, it's a great resource to point bands to.

Let me know if anyone here uses it.

Another resource for bands to sell songs without being signed by a record label is http://music.podshow.com.

Wait! - does podshow list your band in iTunes?! That would be sweet. I didn't know that.

Can anyone confirm this?

:D Don't be hatefull. I meant you don't need iTunes to sell music online. You can go the Podsafe Music Network route. That route includes the possibility of your song to be picked up and played by hundreds of podcasters.

I wasn't being hateful. I know nothing of this podsafe network.

Remember, not all of us are following it's every move.

But this network doesn't allow you to sell songs? Or does, but not on iTunes?

Oh ok, sorry. :)

That's right. The podcast music network is an alternative to iTunes.

I couldn't find out how to buy songs on podsafe. Is there a different address for the store?

The store will be up next week according to Curry.

By the way, after long hesitation I've decided to give in and I'm now hiding under my bedcover with the sound turned low listening to your podcast for the first time ;)

Never heard of this new service so I would do some investigating before using it. There are plenty of companies out there who will serve as the middle man to get songs onto iTunes.

Perfect example is http://www.cdbaby.com which will sell your CDs online, but they also will put your music into all of the major digitial distribution networks (iTunes, Rhapsody, etc.) if you allow them to. It's part of the deal with them and does not cost extra. They are VERY well established if you know musicians looking to go this route.

As for the Podsafe Music Network it does not have sales yet, but it will in the near future. Artists willl have the option to sell their tracks. Being in the PMN does not mean they have to. Seperate contracts and all that jazz.

I personally see the biggest plus of this is that an artist is not going to have to have a whole EP or CD completed before selling music. That's a powerful thing since sometimes artists only have a certain amount of money and only get a couple of songs completed but now will have an outlet to sell the tunes.

I'm looking forward to it going live.

Funny - in bed & under the covers is sort of the recommended way to enjoy our show!

Hope you brought a friend!

Kinky Sex,

My Goodness, I heard some topics raised on your podcast I never heard of in my life. :) It's a very good podcast. You have a good podcasting voice, great co-host, great interaction between the two of you and very informative. It's not pervy at all. It's actually pretty entertaining. Good stuff!

CC Chapman,

Have you ever checked out http://www.allhiphop.com? Check out their very busy forum. http://community.allhiphop.com It is filled with young semi-pro rap artists looking for ways to sell their songs and get noticed. You might be able to inform them about the Podsafe Music Network and get some to join.
