Greetings, all --

Two questions for the podcaster crowd. First, what platform are you on? If I had to predict, I'd guess that a disproportionately large number of podcasters use Macs, maybe 30-50%. Wanted to see if that was roughly the population among podcasters on these boards.

Second, and more importantly, do you care about the PC and digital media industries? Obviously, as podcasters we all care about the future of podcasting itself, but that's part of a much larger story about technology evolution and the digital revolution in media distribution.

I do a show about technology news, and I'm looking for stories to cover that would interest other podcasters. We already report at length about changes in the music industry and developments in the PC industry, but I think podcasters might have additional interests. Thoughts?

i use both actually,
i am a for the most part a mac guy, but i traded a car i had for a nice thinkpad. so i use that as well.

all the recording goes down with the G4, but i run my skype on the thinkpad.

i am pretty active in the music industry, so that always intrests me, as well as photography.

I use pc almost exclusively (old school gamer), but I'm likin' these intel macs. :)

My interests are all over the place, but I love tech!

I use an iBook right now. If i get some money up, I will prolly upgrade to either a MacBook Pro, or to a Mac desktop in the somewhat near future.

All well and good, and the system info is interesting...but I'm also curious whether you feel you're happy with the tech news that's out there.

I'm asking b/c in my show, I go out of my way to condense the news as much as possible without loosing a) the larger context of the stories and b) the fact that the Mac and iPod are platforms -- not just products made by a single company.

So, for example, Professor, you like tech. But do you feel like you can get tech news in sufficient depth, without having to wade through a lot of geek chatter? Or do you like the geek chatter?

I feel I have enough tech news; Diggnation, TWiT, DL.TV and GeekBrief.

However, I think the question is unfair. I'm not sure if I can explain this..... I feel I have enough humor too. UNTIL something funny comes along and gets added to the list. The same with tech.

In other words, don't ask me if I need more, do it and get me to give it a shot.

You could do in depth, or better yet, funny tech and suddenly - HEY I NEED THAT! See, you've TOLD me that I needed more and I agreed. Does this make sense?

I think we have to look at podcasting like comedians look at their material.. if you write for the audience you'll just be another hack talking about airplanes and how crazy your wife is.

I hope to god this observation made sense. I hate typing. I really do.

Cheers! Well, if you have an iPod, or use iTunes, you still may find it useful. (This week's show, for example, is on the growth of digital media distribution.) Anyway, thanks for the kind words. Your show sounds great too...though it's not the content I've been looking to...er, consume.

I use a pc.

With tech news, I'm interested in privacy issues and political news that affects the tech industry.

I'm interested in privacy issues and political news that affects the tech industry.

So, for example, Google and information sharing...or regulation of the internet?

Or do you mean the politics OF the tech industry, like the ouster of Carly Fiorina from HP, or the marginalization of Steve Case at AOL Time-Warner?
