Podcasts: A guy thing?
Chances are, if you've recorded a podcast in the last year, the people listening in were men.
A survey in December by Podtrac, a company that aims to connect podcasters and advertisers, showed that 78 percent of those who have ever listened to a podcast are male. That pattern is in keeping with early adoption of a wide array of technologies, from PCs to video games.

my demographic seems to be overwhelmingly female.
Maybe it's HOW podcasters advertise their product? Instead of podcasting as a whole. I don't think iPods are male dominated...
Of course, most of my audience wouldn't say they were listening to a "podcast" just a "radio show" or an "internet radio show" or an "mp3" - I think their questions could also be flawed.

more, 78% of males are taking the survey than listening. That's the problem with this kinda thing

There will always be certain shows that attract primarily a female audience, but just like any new technology, guys are faster to adopt. The article also says that it's becoming more of a balance.
Us girls are catching up! It seems to me that with new technology, there's a period of about a year (maybe a bit more?) where it's almost all male, but once the girls catch on, it levels out pretty fast. You have to remember that it takes us girls time to get out from behind that mirror and catch up to technology! ;)
I think you're definitely unique if your podcast attracts mainly a female audience. I'd love to hear from anyone else that has more girls than guys.

out of all the emails i've recieved only 5-10% of them were from males..which i find weird but yeah..apparently females listen to the show more OR females probably are the ones that actually take time out to write emails..I've not done a survey or anything but thats just my experiance so far..

We have ladies who listen. Both men & women send in audio and email feedback.
