ads in video blogs?

Has anyone considered advertising/sponsors in their video blogs? Since the format is so different to podcasting, I'm wondering if there is anything like the Coverville podcast pdf.

We're getting between 20,000-27,000 downloads per episode but have only around 150 subscribers. Out of those 20,000+ downloads, they are picking up the video at various locations so ads on the blog site would not be effective.

Does anyone have ideas/rates on this?

Do you make your show available in just audio format?

I am not sure if podtrac is setup to trac video blogs, but I'd get a survey on my site pronto and start asking the 27,000 people to fill it out, if you get enough completed surveys, i'm pretty sure they'd work something out.

i will look in to the survey thing. just puttin' feelers out there and trying to find our way in these untested waters.

I've got the same problem. People are weird.

Here's my theory, hope it helps....
I am appealing to a non-tech crowd. So, they go and download mp3s from the site 'cause they know how to do that. iTunes scares 'em - I tell people, 10 times a day, "it's FREE." ;)

Do you have an older demographic? Just a thought.

i have a large demographic...i think. i actually don't know.

for awhile, up until about last week (too lazy to recalculate) ive been gettin only 13% of my show downloads from subscribers. thas supah low

I think our demographic is all over the globe....probably more lo-tech than hi-tech. lots of folks in internet cafes in europe. (cuz they've written and asked me to include windows files for them) but age wise.....probably from 15-40.

i'm not sure how effective a survey on our blog would be since the downloads are coming from other sources that 'host' the vlog. all in all.....i have to say it is equally frustrating and exciting! i guess that's how it is with any new medium.

do any of you have ads on your vlogs?

No adds on mine. Not that advertisers would be interested in my show, but I can see IPtv and Vidcasts in particular getting more popular over the next year.

Maybe we'll see some interest in product placement. In a video based show you can plug a product without interupting your content if need be. Could be a nice base for advertisers.

Im not sure but I belive that TikiBar TV has placed an add or two in there. Subtlely, but they are there.
