Thanks for fixing the link, Kink!

I neglected to notice the extra bit of "code" that somehow attached itself.

I think it could be an opportunity for radio. Podcasts as a test case to develop new programs and promote new artists. Or deliver long versions of interviews as a podcast, airing the edited versions on FM.

NPR does it well in my view, getting their programs out via podcast.

I think you hit on the current reality of it with your NPR example.

Existing radio shows are just using podcasting to extend their audience by bringing in new listeners through the podcast venue that would have, otherwise, not heard their show.

Although there is nothing wrong with that, I prefer to think of podcasting as a new form of media for all individuals, groups and interests that also helps "level the playing field" instead of just another way to promote existing broadcast shows.

I have yet to hear of a broadcast show promoting a podcast show.

If they do, it will be something in their network.

Speaking of which, is there anyone out there interested in starting up a talk-show podcast network? Its inevitable so we may as well get the ball rolling.

When radio first came out - it was nothing more than a medium for broadcasting vaudeville acts, opera, and popular music - all things taken from the theater. However, after a little time had passed writers started really experimenting with the medium and writing radio plays, soap operas and, of course, spanking lesbians. The golden age of radio was born!

I'm down for a network.

I would have liked to have been there when the original radio play "War of the Worlds" made it "world premiere" without preamble on Halloween night and many listeners didn't know if it was real or not.

Something with that effect may never happen again in media.

So, we need a marketing specialist to organize a network, right?

Any ideas on how we efficiently organize this?
