I am in solid agreement with Al Pacino in Devil's Advocate. Pacino rocks in just about everything. Until Gary Oldman plays Satan in something, Pacino's Satan is the one.

Father Damien Karras: Well, then let's introduce ourselves. I'm Damien Karras.
Regan MacNeil: And I'm the Devil. Now kindly undo these straps.
Father Damien Karras: If you're the Devil, why don't you make the straps disappear?
Regan MacNeil: That's much too vulgar a display of power, Karras.

****, I forgot about that one. Good ol' Viggo. That one was really, really good.
But I still gotta put it second to Constantine's Satan. Viggo was scarey as hell, but Constantine's Satan was scarey and CREEPY!

This is an age old debate that comes down to how you view the nature of Satan.
Members of the modern Lavey-ite Church of Satan usually (though it is hard to make any sort of blanket statement regarding Satanic beliefs) view Satan as a representation of the dark and feral side of mankind. A theatric representation of mankinds baser desires. Worshipping a literal dark spirtual entity is akin to attending a Southern Baptist Church in many COSatanist eyes.
Others rebel against this representation, preferring to worship a dark presence. This is famously represented in the Church of Satan/Temple of Set schism of the past few decades, but variations on the theme can be found in various dark sects worldwide.
Art criticism reveals another way to interpret. Camille Paglia sees the darker spiritualities as manifestations of the chaos of nature shattering through the line man has drawn in the sand between himself and the kill or be killed world of nature (the menstrual blood on the nice white upholstery to recall early thread imagery). Mother Nature, cruel and unfeeling is as dark and evil as any horned god in this world view.
That all being said, I think that the four lords in Pasolini's Salo: One Hundred and Twenty Days of Sodom (based on DeSade) cruelly torturing the members of the household while taking turns watching the torture with opera glasses one of the most cruel and dark representations in film.
OK, now that Christmas is purged from my head, I will stop the thread derail. Remember, if you look for the sign of the king in the stars, revere a decorated tree and celebrated mystical births at the Solstice, we are all being more pagan than anything else.
Io Saturnalia! Joyeux Yule!
I gotta stop drinking while posting.
