Hey people,
For those left without a home after Purecastmedia (http://www.purecastmedia.com) went bust, check out Servage.net (http://www.servage.net/?coupon=cust13208) for podcast hosting and web-hosting. They're a great service that provide both a lot of bandwidth and a lot of space. I use them and they're fantastic!

yeah, i feel kinda bad for them, but you had to know it was going to happen. without a serious financial investment, and with the growing costs of hosting and bandwidth, not to mention the growing number of podcasts, someone big is going to have to step up to the plate to take on this endeavor.
for those of you who dont know what we are talking about:

When I first got into Podcasting and was shopping around for host providers, I was struck by some of the services offering "unmetered bandwidth" and "unlimited hosting space". After researching several firmly established web host providers, I was a little leery of the fringe host providers offering such unbelievable, unmetered benefits.
I'm very happy I avoided some of the hype. I think a little research goes a long way.

I've been with GoDaddy.com for the past year and couldn't be happier (and no, they're not sponsoring any of my shows). I can't stand their advertising campaigns but their service couldn't be better. The also just increased the storage and bandwidth on their hosting plans so you get 5GB of storage and 250GB/month of bandwidth for $4 a month, 10GB of storage and 500GB/month of bandwidth for $10 a month, and 20GB of storage and 1,000GB/month of bandwidth for $20 a month. They don't have any bells and whistles specifically for podcasters but with those prices and an large, well-established, company with a proven track record behind them you can't go wrong.

Wow! Thanks for the info, Craig. I've been looking at GoDaddy for a while and very tempted to jump over, but with those prices... Goodness.
I just bought one of the $4 hosting plans to test out a new website of mine. If I'm happy with the service, I might have to move my behemoth of a website (http://www.smart-popcorn.com) over there, too.
Local company, too. Woo.

Many ISPs have very open ended terms of service agreements that allow them to cancel your account if the wind blows from the wrong direction. I had it happen to me some years back. The host I was using that promised unlimited bandwidth cancelled my account without warning or reason. When I emailed them for an explanation, I was told my account was cancelled for "abuse". When I asked what the nature of the abuse was, they gave me the run around.
