Anybody know of a free forum tool that can make your forum be part of your domain?

ex: www.mypodcast.com/forum

rather than php.bb.com/forums/mypodcast.html

do you have web hosting someplace already, and if so why not install a bb script?

aaaaaaa had to bring this dead post back..

I need a 'Dummies guide to installing forums'... I have NO CLUE on how to do this..

My shitty hosting doesnt have a preinstalled forums package and I went to phpbb.com and downloaded the package and I don't know where/how to upload it onto my hosting..

I have Plesk on the hosting, and for some reason I can't upload entire directories, only individual files one at a time. I quit doing it midway when I reached the "smileys" section as it got on my nerves uploading 1 file manually..

I even read the install instructions on phpbb.com and it said to change the permissions of config.php but no matter how many times i upload that file, it doesn't show up on the file list. what gives? I'm amazingly pissed off now.

Someone, HELP ME!......I honestly have little to nothing knowledge about PHP or MYSQL or whatever i just need my forums up with the least of troubles :(

thanks again
jay

my previous hosting did. On Cpanel theres a forum button or whatever, and I just clicked that and was directly redirected to the install page.. Here i had to get a ftp client and upload the files myself to my hosting and then make my own database etc, which is hard work for a tech-newbie such as myself.

There are forum "services" which charge you like $4.95 a month and it takes all of two minutes to set up and maybe five minutes to look at the customizations and make it more like what you want it to be.

I had one for a website I made a couple years ago and it worked great.

Unfortunately, I don't recall where I got it, but there are several sites where you can get one.

$9.95 a month

Probably not the best deal but if you're lookin' for easy, easy, easy with no set up hassle...

there ya go!

siteground will install and update pretty much anything you ask them to as long as it can be run on your server......

even if it's not on their 30+ list of apps.....
