A thread started by Rookiee in the New Show Announcements forum announcing the resubmission of Pedologues has been removed with no explanation. Is it the position of Podcast Alley that we can not discuss the listing of controversial shows?

From the About Us page:
"In an effort to support the podcasting community I am offering my services to help index all the podcasts we can find."

Not true. You are only indexing the podcasts that contain content you approve of.

Podcast Alley gives the impression of aspiring to an ideal: to index podcasts without making normative judgement on the content. It's a shame that when the majority make a fuss, the admin give in and the ideal becomes worthless.

This has all been covered before

Covered and buried like a mass grave. It's obvious that the primary objective is not to "Free the airwaves." The objective is to make money. This medium frees no one; not when there's gatekeepers checking papers on the way out of the barbed-wire fence. Corporate sanctified speech in the name of free speech. One too many frappachinos.

The original poster of that topic was not the reason that thread was removed. The reason it was removed was because the next 15 messages were vulgar, rude, profain and did not comply with pretty much any of the forum policies.

Hey, Chris.

Yes, I can agree with you. It shouldn't go on in this forum.

But... removing the thread is a double-edged sword. Sure, they're vile and vulgar and mean and naughty and badbadbad and it doesn't look pretty. I can handle it, believe me. I try to be mature in the face of such bigotry.

The problem is, by removing the entire thread, it basically wiped out any of my thoughts as well, and the hatemongering.

I sympathize. I really do. But you silenced me in the process. I won't re-post the thread, though. I know it'll just foster more pitchforking.

I already see where this is going, though. Call me paranoid, but soon, I'm going to be banned from posting, period, on the basis of "trouble-making". I hope that's not the case. I've already had my podcast removed from 3 indexing sites for "innappropriate material", denied entry by 2 indexing sites on the same basis, had 2 threads removed from different forums because others can't handle threads maturely.

Anyone remember elementary school? The teacher doesn't pull away the guy who's punching and kicking. You pull away the person who's being picked on. It's safer, makes less commotion. It's basic enforcement tactics.

o/~ It's just the way it is... some things'll never change... o/~ (RIAA-disapproved distribution of text)

No, covered and burried like a stinking pile of dog crap.

I learned a neat trick to deal with my dog digging in the yard. If you put his own crap into the hole before you fill it in, he won’t dig there again. (Really, it works.)

This proves that my dog is far smarter than people who have sex with children.
