So what's the deal with getting featured in iTunes? Is it a random thing . . . do they pick the podcasts? Do they contact the podcast creator or do you just get suprised one day on the front page? I'm sure we all aspire to get a slot there . . . have any of you had a slot? How did it affect your number of subscriptions?

Supposedly it's random I know many people on here including myself think that most people (I said most) pay to be on it.

Cinecast has been featured. We certainly did not pay for it. The people at PodShow play a large role.

I said most pay, not all. There are quite a few podcasters I know that were featured and did not say.

I find Madge's observation to be interesting in that there have not been any LGBT (lesbian-gay-bi-trans) podcasts featured on the iTunes front page. I won't go as far as she did by implying it's intentional, but our shows are certainly not on the radar.

We've been featured twice now (the second time starting just yesterday), and it was a surprise both times. They didn't contact us beforehand; our subscription numbers just spiked a bit.

And no, we have certainly not paid anyone. Nor do we know anyone. It was my understanding that someone listened to and chose podcasts to feature, but perhaps that was only a vicious rumor.

Well Madge hadn't looked in a couple weeks because The Gay Fun Show - Feast of Fools has been up on the front for about a week now. and it still is.

Maybe he was talking about his and his friend's shows.

I was featured about a month ago, but there are others that are featured more often. I didn't pay, but I would love to advertise there, and that does cost,...and a lot, I would imagine.

I wouldn't know who to pay if I could. I was featured in the Travel category highlight bar that ran last week. I had no idea I was on the bar until a listener pointed it out in a note.

Anyone know of anyone who has paid? Or, of any examples of ad rates?

Just curious, not deep pockets here but it would be interesting to know.

i think if you tell adam curry to eat a dick on your show, it won't get you featured on itunes...

did i just tell adam curry to eat a dick?

i've told him to eat a dick on the boards, but i was on the front page last week....

and i seriously doubt anyone pays for being featured except for the commercialcasts like the fox shows, and possibly NPR (not that they're commercial)......

Skepticality was featured a few times, big box, little box, banner etc. We weren't contacted, didn't know, didn't pay etc. (Aren't a part of podshow, aren't big on podcast alley.)

I also have another show that was featured little box, big box, banner. Again, wasn't contacted, wasn't even in the top 100 for that long (number of initial subscriptions on the day I entered iTunes gave me a bump, but then it was back to obscurity).

This is of couse pure speculation, but it appears that part of what makes it easier to be featured is good "album art". If you have a good logo that is scalable and can be used in that banner slot, making iTunes podcasting look purdy, I think it helps.

Wow. "Isn't Yaz so hard core and edgy?" - NO

Enough with the Anti-Curry stuff. I mean, you probably don't even know why you dislike him. You just do it to be "cool" and "edgy".

It's like when a 6th grader claims to hate George Bush. He has every right to, but does HE know why??? Nope.

Yaz is a tool. An attention-seeking short, fat cretin.

He's great at bashing people on the boards, but when it came expo time, he was the first one to bend over for everyone.

What a pussy. An attention-seeking wanna-be pussy.

yea, that's right, you were too cool to come out to california...

sorry that you're a loser internet radio guy trying to break into fm that is all scared by the competition of podcasters who do it for shits and giggles and might actually be better than you at something you think you're a professional at...im not talking about our show, because our show rates with poop, but you are just scared of the people that actually take their shows seriously and whoop your lame show's ***...you can no go hang yourself off something that is preferably a few feet taller than yourself...good day loser...

oh, and as far a short, fat cretin, i'd be happy to introduce your head to your *** by bending you backwards so you can see it up close, that's right, show up anywhere i'll be and i'll turn you into a half a pair of shoes, sissy boy...
