Hey, I'm new here, and new to podcasting in general, infact, thus far I'm only a mere listener. I'm interested in starting my own podcast, but I exclusively
run Linux. Are there any Linux podcasters out there that could give me some pointers on what Hardware, and software I would need for a descent setup?
Thanks in advance...

If you have the cash, this is a very nice Linux based system.

Thanks, But I was thinking more along the lines of Recording hardware and software... I know about, and have Audacity, but I was wondering if there were any other good pro quality audio tools for linux.

Ars Technica did a great review of audio editing tools for Linux just a couple weeks back:

Audacity's covered, of course, along with a more ambitious digital workstation called Ardour and a funky little tool called SND.
As for hardware, I imagine your simplest path would be the same as for Windows. Good sound card (I know there are Linux drivers for the Audigy series), and plug your mixer into that. USB or Firewire audio interfaces might be a little more problematic, so you might as well go with the well-known solution.

Alright! Another penguin! :) I use Linux as my desktop OS at work, but I'm not podcasting with it. I'm using Windows at home right now for audio recording, but am moving it to the Mac soon. I did a little looking today and here's what I found.
For soundcards, check out http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/ to see if the audio interface you have/will acquire is supported. It might help drive your decision for soundcard hardware.
Software wise, Ardour looks like a ProTools clone with more capability than Audacity. But it also looks like a bit of work to setup. Linux Journal had a good article on Ardour awhile ago. Here is a link to it:

There are plenty of great ID3 tag editors for Linux. Check out http://www.freshmeat.net for those.
Let us know how it goes. I for one would like to hear more about podcasting with Linux.

Thank you all so much for the suggestions, I'm relatively new to Linux, and Completely new to podcasting, and this has all been helpful. I'll keep you posted on my progress....
