View Full Version : Voting problems?

I've had three people contact me since this afternoon to tell me that they voted for me, but never received the confirmation email from PodCast Alley.

Does this intermittently fail?

Was there a problem in the afternoon/evening of Tuesday October 25th?

Could it be that there was something wrong on their end (three different ISP's)?

Can it sometimes take a day or two for the email from PCA to go out?

Thanks...

My listeners tell me they try to vote and never get a confirm email as well.

it's been going on for quite awhile... your thread will likely be locked down and you'll redirected to an existing one on this same topic soon (that's what happened last time i raised it)

i'd direct you to it now, but i'm afraid i've forgotten where it is -- sorry!

Ferf:

No need to apologize; PCA is a great service and website. Having been an IT Director myself, I can appreciate the complexity in what you guys provide here.

Thanks for the info!

Also, sorry I raised this here...I tried looking in the forum for a similar issue, but obviously my search skills are lacking!

Thanks again, and if I can help at all don't hesistate to contact me.

This issue may be more complex: Today, as a test, I contacted five different people at different offices and home. One was on an AOL account, three were at different domains using Exchange servers, and one was using a Sprint email account.

In all five cases, users reported filling out the form, clicking the "vote" button, and seeing the window change to "check your email for verification" etc.

But in no case did any of them recieve an email.

This is similar to what my listeners have been telling me since yesterday afternoon.

So, if it helps: the problem does not seem to be related to any particular domain name or email service.

Also, it's worth noting that the five people I asked to vote, have been able to successfully vote in the past, and I selected them because they had told me that they had not yet voted this month.

Has anyone else reported similar issues?

Well...it looks like the problem is NOT with PCA.

I noticed this morning that I had some additional votes that came in overnight. I recieved emails back from four of my friends who helped me trouble-shoot the problem, and three of them said that the verification email was recieved by their local email client: and were stored in their "Junk E-mail" folders. A fourth said that he reviewed his "spam detection log" and found an email from PCA in there.

So, it appears that PCA is working perfectly, and the problem was with the verification email being filtered as spam at the other end.

If anyone out there suspects that verification emails are not being recieved by their listeners. make sure that they check their "Junk Email" folders, or ensure that their spam filters are not "throwing the baby out with the bathwater".

That sounds about right, I always have to go fishing through my junk mail folder for verifications...
