how do i make sound effects in my recoring?

my sound card has a setting for what it records. either the mic or what comes out of the speakers. but i want it both at the same time. is there a way to do that?

What platform/software are you using? You can use Audacity to record a "Wave Out Mix", or "What-U-Hear".

That'll probably do it for you.

im using audacity. there is an option for "what u hear" and "mic/line in" but nothing that combines the 2

I know a kid who uses the Free CastBlaster software
and uses its sound effects functions whilst recording
through audacity.

the free version of castblaster is podproducer. www.podproducer.net it works great. Even better than castblaster in my opion and you don't have to shell out the $50 to podshow.
