View Full Version : Why I love Podcast Alley

While scrolling through the massive amount of posts on this Bulletin Board, a thought came to me. Before you all start shouting about how that's not possible, let me assure you, one did.
I don't get many thoughts on a daily basis so I thought it was imperative that I write this one down and allow all of the loving posters and podcasters on this network a chance to contribute.
My thought was this:
I really LOVE Podcast Alley. No, I mean it; I really love everything about it. Now some of you may ask, "Why on earth do you love it, Joe?" My reply is, and always will be the same. It's the people. I've taken the time to list out the reasons why the people make this site so great.
Preface each one of the statements with "The people of Podcast Alley"
1.are never judgmental.
2.are always supportive.
3.provide useful, intuitive and thought provoking content in their posts.
4.are really here to selflessly share ideas in order to further podcasting.
5.never shamelessly promote their own show.
6.never viciously attack other posters in a futile attempt to flaunt their delusional superiority.
7.always leave their over inflated egos at the door.
8.never feel as though they need to get the last word in.
9.never post comments such as “Oh ****! You got told†or “You’re an idiot†because this is a warm, friendly environment for all to enjoy.
10.never chase away good people because the first few threads on the boards usually involve a few “bad apples†with no sense of social decency screaming obscenities at each other.
11.never use this forum as a source to pursue their own religious witch hunt of podcasters that talk about “illegal†activities.
12.always embrace diversity and understand that everyone is an individual and has a right to their own opinions.
13.are people with lives that partake in a healthy amount of social interaction with real people outside this bulletin board.
14.have a firm concept of reality and understand the true nature and intent of bulletin boards such as this.
Now, some of you may argue that all the people on this board do not represent the statements I just listed above. I say this is true; there are a few posters that can be mean-spirited at times. It is important to remember, however, that it’s only about 99% of the people posting here.
Now, I'd like to hear what you love about Podcast Alley.
Happy posting and happy podcasting everyone!

The people of pocast alley:
1. Never have obnoxiously large signatures promoting their podcast.
Seriously, dude, I know it's been said before, but that thing is out of control

Are you talking about mine, or his?
Dude - HIS is like 5 times the size of yours...so if I'm talking about yours, I'm also talking about his as well....

Yeah dude it is. I'm working on it but I frankly I have too much going on. If it's offensive to anyone, I'm sure they'll get over it.

Geez...hmmm..what could one do to remedy the situation...how about removing it altogether? I mean...let's be honest, here...you post on these forums EXCESSIVELY for someone who doesn't have time to resize their sig.

Really, is it any surprise that opinionated, attention whoring, obscessive-compulsive loudmouths who don't know when to put a cork in it would take up podcasting as a hobby?

No, it's not that surprising. Who would have thought that's we'd all descend on each other like a rabid pack of wolves, though?

That part is definitely a turn-off. For the people who can't stand each other but are faithfull listeners to each other's shows so they can rip into each other on the forums, they thoroughly enjoy the misery.
As a spectator, it's good in a way. I figure I don't need to bother to listen to either of their shows.

Ok I normally sit on the sidelines and don't get involved with these threads, but I agree with Fueled By Beer. Is it really necessary for all the crappy comments? The first reply to this thread is a good example. Was that really necessary?
The one thing that I've noticed about the boards here at Podcastalley, are that there are a select few that seem to take pride in trying to put other people down regularly. To the point that many of the comments are generally “I’m right and you’re an idiotâ€. I’ve also noticed that there seem to be quite a few personal grudges between certain people, for whatever reasons that are between them. But it seems that posting here is like jumping into a pool full of sharks. At some point, you’re going to get chomped. And I fear it’s gotten to the point where current or potential forum members may shy away because of these select few.
Awhile back, someone posted “anybody can be a tough guy on a message boardâ€, and I think this rings true (especially some of these threads that go on and on and are mostly personal attacks). As I type this (and cringe at the responses I’m going to get from the Podcastalley sharks) I think we’ve lost sight as to why and how we found Podcastalley. We’re either broadcasters or listeners that enjoy making/listening to this type of content. The shows may stink, or they may be good. Either way, podcasting is something we all have in common.
Now I’m not naive enough to think that this type of stuff doesn’t happen on other boards. But I’ve visited podcastalley since it’s birth and have watched this just grow out of control, so I finally decided to speak up.
Ok, I’ve said my 2 cents. Now I’m going to go hide in the corner, in the fetal position and await my punishment….

I was just looking at our Web site logs and trying to figure out why we suddenly got thousands of referrals from this forum. Now I see why. Joe, why are you using the site header graphic as a signature?? That's just annoying.
Sorry about that, kids. Excuse me while I go smoke a clove cigarette and make some more edgy graphics.

Ban Mugglecast!
'cause like.. they're grooming kids to do witchcraft and stuff. Totally immoral behavior. Those sick bastards are taking advantage of them. They don't know any better. They can't consent to the act of putting a spell on someone. It's just totally unnatural and it's against God. They're going to ruin America's youth and turn them into a bunch of pedant paganistic perpetrators!
Wingardium Leviosa... that's hatespeech. It's enchanting them! And burn all those ****ed books!
