I didn't see this covered anywhere else on the forums, but I think I've seen one or two podcasts force a special mp3 to always be the first download when someone subscribes to a feed.

I'm helping my Zen teacher podcast her weekly radio show. We're sailing smoothly with WordPress and Feedburner. But we'd like it so that everyone who signs up for our feed would get a special MP3 the first time they check their subscription.

Thanks,

Bob

I've heard that iTunes will always use your first show as your promo. I think you mean that evey time someone subscribes they get a welcome message. I wouldn't mind knowing this trick as well.

I could be wrong, but it should be as simple as always having it as your top item in your RSS file if you hand-code. So, it will be the first thing downloaded anytime someone new subscribes. It should be ignored by folks that have previously downloaded it.

For iTunes you need to make sure it is the "oldest" or bottom entry. For some reason when you double click on a show in iTunes it plays that one. So, that's where I put my promo.
