View Full Version : Shows I want banned from podcast alley

Since Podshow has agreed to ban podcasts that do not break any laws, simply on "moral" grounds, laws are regarded as base "morals" so I have a few requests for podcasts that need banning.
Since the banning of shows that podshow does not approve of provides a legal implication that they DO approve of the podcasts listed, it is definitely in Podshow's interests for these sites to be removed to avoid any legal difficulties.

Reason:
It often mentions the illegal activity in the UK of possession of the illegal substance marijuana, and advocates its use to anybody who could be listening. This is illegal.

Once again, advocating of the use of illegal substances.
Keith And The Girl

Contains content that violates the road rules in its production - an illegal activity.
This is a short list, from the podcasts I listen to. Other users are welcome to help in correlating this list to ensure that Podshow does not condone any illegal activities.

Geez I never get on anyone's top lists....it's always AC, Dawn and Drew and Keith and the Girl. Even banning shows I'm not mentioned. Time to sulk.

Are you suggesting that a PRIVATE ORGANISATION such as podshow and/or podcast alley can't do whatever it likes as far as banning or not banning? If they want to ban shows 'cos they don't like the content (or the name of the show or the colour of the skin of the hosts) they should be able to do so. If you don't agree you go somewhere else to do business. Simple. If enough people don't agree they will go out of business.
If you hate it enough you could start your own competing podcast directory and or money-making podcast business.

That is the most illogical argument I've seen in a long time (and I deal with politicians for a living). Podshow banned the shows because they wanted to. Simple as that. Presumably they were getting a lot of 'input' from consumers and they decided to respond to that 'input'. They're a private company and they're allowed to do it. Free speech allows someone to say what they want...it doesn't mean that a private company has to allow them to print it/broadcast it/televise it using that private company's resources or infrastructure. They made a business decision. A smart economic decision.
I'm going back to the Pickle.
...oh Aaron I'll put you on the top of my list of podcasts to subscribe to when I get a spare slot on my playlist ok? Just so you get on a list and don't feel left out. I hate people to feel left out.

Thank you, it's honor to be considered. You can add me to "shows I'd burn to the ground if I could" if there's room on that list.

slashdot used it in their decision not to delete illegal posts by users on their forums:
Please realize that if we censor our readers's posts because they contain ideas Microsoft does not wish to have made public, we may set an unhealthy precedent for other online news outlets and online service providers.

As a corporation, Podshow has the legal responsibility not to promote illegal activity.

I couldn't disagree with this post more. Sorry.
I can't see any reason to ban these shows. Could
this be senseless trolling? Think so. I am actually
rather happy with the response, albeit slow, from
Podshow & PCA. Thanks Chris & AC.

First, we don't advocate the use, but I've used, and we don't shy away from talking about it.
Actually, you seem to have some obsession with "the Law". Well I've advocated breaking plenty of laws, don't try to pin me with just advocating drug use.
I say break every law you feel like breaking. That's what people do anyway.
**** you and your law.
I bet you're either a bureaucrat, laywer, or a bedwetting busybody.

Oh, this is too precious. Do you need more stuff to whack to on the internet? Cause it seems like you have a little too much free time.
Might as well say NBC condones murder because it showed a movie where some guy got killed in it.

LOL!
This reminds me of a letter I wrote to my home town newspaper when I was fifteen. I said that the NRA only had it half right, and that we should each personally be allowed to own nuclear weapons to defend our homes and families.
This post by unknownsoldier is too well written to be anything but a clever exercise in sardonic irony.

Hey, I actually have heard of shows where the participants have actually USED illegal substances during the podcast!
I have no idea who they may be or where you'd hear them though.

So would I... But this podshow has opened itself up to so many legal liabilities, I think they should be notified of any future problems they might have in this area.

It's not like it's coming in to your home over the airways inadvertantly. You must go to some effort to download the show - just don't do it. Live and let live.
Will we have a PCC next - Podcast Communications Commission?

Will we have a PCC next - Podcast Communications Commission?
If podshow refused to ackolege it has any knowlege of the content of podcasts, this wouldn't happen. But it seems to me that there is already a PCC - Inside Podshow. Just like the FCC they can't ban what you can say, but they certainly can stop the way it is transmitted.

Hey, is this related to the banning of the Pedologues?
There are different kinds of law breaking and morals. To suggest that any podcast talking about illegal activities be banned is simply rubbish.
There's a giant difference between smoking pot, sharing files, and having sex with children.
I frequently RUN STUPID RED LIGHTS!!!! I'll NEVER STOP! I'm talking about red lights that waste my time. In particular, ALOT of left hand turn arrows that make me stop when the traffic's clear.
Curse traffic camaras!!! Should I be banned?
So all this talk of banning in this thread, was it because of the Pedolouges?
People can't have an opinion contrary to stupid laws that exist??? WTF? By the way, Adam Curry is in the Netherlands where pot smoking is legal.
Well, let me just encourage some people to do illegal stuff really fast....
Ahem, HEY, I encourage everone who wants to smoke pot to do it, run red lights, and download music for free(buy it if you really like the group..honestly, not sarcasm). Whoa! Ban me.....if you're a total facist wimp!!
Sometimes banning is a stronghanded solution for weak minds. Ouuu, I said SOMETIMES!
My butt hurts from all this amazing italian food. Ban me.
