i am 13 years old and I am venturing into the nice world of podcasting with a friends... :D

we play a game call kingdom of loathing (kingdomofloathing.com).
They have an internet radio station for their "game"(if u can call it that) but we would like to do more of a news show instead of music...and hopefully get some of the important people on the show.

We would like to get an online host to post our show on the net and have a blog we we could post and do show notes...

We are going to use Audiacity to record and i have read a great book called Podcasting: The do it yourself Guide by Todd Cochrane.

So my question is... is there a good internet host that can fufill our "requirements" and at a nice...low cost...$25 would probably be our limit so please feel free to help.

Hey,

I'm kinda curious about your venture. We run iPod Traveller, it is hugely popular maybe we could give you some tips or perhaps help you out further.

Where are you in the UK?
What sort of News are you interested in doing?
Who do you want to listen?
Would you be interested in doing something other than what you are passionate about doing?

Todd Cochrane adverts godaddy.
Check out the geek news central website and podcast.

If I am not mistaken there is a promo code he gives out on his podcast to get a deal from godaddy, but you'd better hurry 'cause on his last podcast he said the promo offer is ending, like, tomorrow or something... i can't remember.

ummm im not in the UK...i may have messed up my info or something.. i am on the east coast of the US

anyways we would like to do news about the game (updates and new things that are happenning) and we would like the people that play the game to listen to the podcast

we tried a sample of a service called libsyn (libsyn.com) and thats how my siggy link is published...
we thought that the service was ok....but it had some missing things

we would definetely like a service where we would get:
- our own domain
- at least 2GB of storage (the podcast and pictures)
- a good size of bandwith (I expect to get a lot of listeners....though I may be expecting a lot more than we will start with.)
- definetely a weblog...which should not be a problem (duh!)
- we dont really need emails cause gmail suits me fine
- $30 dollars maximum price

For some reason I think I will not get everything under $30 but who knows...?

As for another podcast different from this...I am thinking about it but haven't thought to greatly about it... theres not much else I could talk about for a half hour on a podcast

Right now i am gonna go get my chicken soup and check out iPod Traveller

I can always suggest to use libsyn.org. They're cheap, non-discriminating, and the blog service suits me well enough.

They do support domain hosting and large amounts of storage, but according to their frontpage it only goes to 800mb a month @ $30.00 Maybe you could lower the bitrate of your files a bit to like 96kbps? Their bandwidth is unlimited.

Once in a while their server goes *doink* but I can live with that for freedom of speech @ $5 bucks a month. My show aggregated pretty quickly with them as well. Can pay through paypal using a creditcard or otherwise.

I wish you success!

we looked at libsyn but i was skeptical and midphase is a lot cheaper and we like the features better... i just setup a new gmail for the new podcast so if anyone would like the info draft i wrote up just email kolpodcast@gmail.com

we are expecting to use midphase.com to host our site/podcast

Hey, not to play salesman too hard, but you get all of this with libsyn. You can use your own domain, bandwidth is unmetered, blogging tool included. My only question is about your space requirement. Do you need 2GB per month? Or 2GB total? At libsyn the storaqe is on a "rolling quota." So for $30 you can have 800MB the first month, 800MB the 2nd month, etc, etc. This is made possible through our unique archiving scheme (http://libsyn.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7).

Ok, luckily for everyone here, I'm a soft-sell, so that's all I'll say. PM me or email support at libsyn dot com if you want to ask us anything directly.

Thanks,

Marty

So this means every month you get more space? Meaning that, we can keep all of our shows on the net?

How about free??

You can host your audio files at www.ourmedia.org and use Blogger for your show notes. I did that for a long time. If you want webhosting, try www.vizaweb.com. I just signed up with them. They have lots of packages to choose from. Of course there are so many others, but I am just speaking from my own experiance.

yup- your archived shows stay available for as long as you're a libsyn customer.
