I am considering playing some commerical music, once I get ASCAP and/or BMI licence fee. I am wondering, how do you tell which agreement a song is under.

If you have the original CD (or vinyl) it will say ASCAP or BMI on it somewhere in small letters. Otherwise, you have to guess, but if you’re licensed with both of them, you should be OK.

There is also a Canadian version of those organizations called SeaSac, but I’m sure I’m spelling that wrong.

Its seems expensive, so maybe I'll find out what I have most of then go with just one for now. I think they are about $250 each

I think it's an annual fee.

Also, they will probably expect you to file accurate logs of what you've played, so they can apportion the money they collect to the composers.
