It looks like TX will be getting this monster storm by Friday. So far the forecast shows the eye hitting between Corpus Christi and Houston....and it could actually go through Houston as it approaches land.
I'm in Houston, so I am expecting the worst. It's difficult to get out of town (10-12 hours in any safe direction), and gas stations are running out of gas.
My family will probably stay in town because we really don't have anywhere to go.
For those in this area, please be safe. Let's all hope it's not going to be as bad as the news reports say it could be.
Here's hoping for the best....

Even up here in Dallas, we are adjusting schedules and making plans for some pretty crappy winds and rain on the weekend.
Nothing compared to what you all will get. Take care and BE SAFE. I don't need to tell you - stock up - especially water.
Do let us know ASAP how you make out.

Be careful, you Texans, and let us know what happens. We don't want to have to start a Podcaster Relief Fund.
Man, what is going on there in the States? Kinda makes me glad all we gotta worry about here is terrorists. :P

my best advice....look at what people did during pre-katrina........and DON'T do that, do the opposite

The hurricane is the least of your worries. Houston imported some odd 22,000 extra looters from NOLA.

Rest assured, this ain't gonna be pretty.

Yeah, Houston is going to suffer horribly from this no matter what. Remember to keep your families safe.
We have a listener down there that's on his way out... I'm looking forward to a positive update from him.

It's been crazy in Houston since Monday. Wendy went to the grocery store to buy some stuff on Tuesday, and all the bottled water (for that day) was already sold out. Canned foods were also scarce. Luckily we had stocked up on plenty of water and foods before.
Luckily we filled up our gas tanks on Tuesday because gas stations ran out of gas on Wednesday. People waited in line for up to three hours to fill up on gas. Every gas station I passed had at least 20 cars lined up on the street waiting.
All the highways heading out of town are jam packed....like a 100 mile long parking lot. One lady said it took her 11 hours just to drive 10 miles on the highway. Dept of public safety is now opening both highway directions to head OUT OF TOWN. Hardly anyone is driving into Houston now. People are also running out of gas along the way and get stranded in their vehicles.
You wouldn't know that a monster storm is coming because it's a sunny, HOT day in Houston. Wendy is worrying about the high winds that might blow over the houses. I'm more worried about the potential flooding because it's harder to leave when everything (including house) is flooded. Another problem is when the power goes out. Our twin babies may not be able to take the heat, so we may head out of town when the worst is over. (maybe to Dallas...Jeff, maybe we'll get a chance to meet you and Pat :D )
Thanks.

come to South Dakota. Only thing we suffer from is the occasional blizzard. I wouldn't worry too much about that though, as the last few winters have been rather warm
