One of our listeners wrote to us and said he's behind two shows of ours because iTunes didn't automatically update. He said the same thing happened with a couple other shows he subscribes to. I've had no problem, even with our show. Has anyone else heard anything about this from their listeners?
By the number of related threads, there probably should be a separate forum category, "iTunes Concerns".

Did they happen to upgrade to iTunes 5.0 recently?
I know that a lot of people had podcast subscription problems after the upgrade. A 5.1 upgrade just came out that is suppose to fix it.

i've been noticing many many problems with their directory lately!
many hours of the day, i and many others i know are not listed under our keywords or even searchable under our titles....
then as a hour or two goes by, everything pops back up like nothing ever happened......

Apple has been consistent about their use of our product. Their software has been buggy, their responses to concerns have been non-existent, and their policy is to use their listeners as beta testers and podcasters as guinea pigs. It’s been this way since day one, and there is no evidence it’s ever going to change.
Rather than complain, again, complaints that fall on the deaf ears at Apple, let’s do something.
I’ve been enjoying the extra listeners as much as everyone else, but it’s time to wean as many of them as possible off of iTunes as a podcatcher. I suggest that every couple of shows we encourage people to use different software. “For those of you listening through iTunes, thanks for joining us. We encourage you to expand your listening options by upgrading from iTunes to one of the other fine podcatchers, such as iPodder or Podnova. (Or whatever other one’s you like.) You’ll find links and other information at yaddayadda.com. Next up…â€
It’s unlikely Apple will notice this (although they might, which would be good), but every listener we can get to a better podcatcher is likely to be happier with the experience. And the more people doing it, the more effective it will be.

After having the problems where my show would be removed hours at a time, then only to be returned like nothing happened, I emailed apple. Here's the response I got after the expected auto email reply.....
I was just forwarded your message about the incosistent search. It's
a known bug that has caused many of the search indices to fail.
Sometimes they work, sometimes they break, sometimes they work
partially. In any case, the behavior should be fixed within the next
couple of days.
I completely sympathize with your frustration. It's driving me mad as
well.

Changing your feed URL? Use the itunes:new-feed-url tag, like so:
<itunes:new-feed-url>http://www.newfeedlocation.com/example.rss</
itunes:new-feed-url>
and then after saying thanks, he emailed me back in about an hour with
Happy to report that I think it's fixed. Let me know if you find the
problem recurring.

you will if you try searching during different hours of the day for your podcast....
well, if Pete is correct, you won't. I haven't yet since he said it was fixed.....

I'm still having problems with iTunes not updating our show. I've been encouraging all of our listeners to switch to a different catcher.
Has anyone found the source of or solution to this problem? iTunes, of course, has been non-responsive.
Thanks!
